Printer putting line down the page

We have a 3050 in an office that is putting a line down the pages it prints. We had a local repair looks, and he says it is in the programming. He could fix it but it would cost as much as a new one. This is only 1 or 2 years old. Any ideas?

The printer is putting a line down the page on copies only. It doesn't put down the line when it is printed from the computer only when making copies.

When I copy it leaves one line down the whole page. I have tried to clean out the paper feeder and it still comes out with a line down the page.

I had a hp 3050 yesterday with two vertical lines running down the page when making a copy. All I had to do was to pull open the top cover where you put the paper you want copied and cleaned the glass strip with a rag and alcohol and the lines were gone.

If the line is down all printed pages it could be the fuser or just the toner cartridge. A new cartridge is the cheapest test. If the line is only when coping or scanning then there is some kind of spot on the laser scanner unit and you can just wipe with a barely damp cloth.

I am not sure what the programing would have to do with it.

If it in copying then clean the scanner glass and above it (white portion or white strip)

if it in printing, check your toner and if it not in it then probably it is in the fuser (damage film sleeve)

My HP 3700 Laserjet printer is printing black specs

Examine the fuser and see if it has those specs on it. If so, the cleaning blade is not removing all the toner residue and will need replaced.

The printer driver is corrupt. Uninstall it from the computer before trying to reinstall the driver. If you don't have the driver CD you can go to HP's website and download it.

When you print each page has a gray/black line running down the page from top to bottom about 2.5 inches from the edge of the paper. Sometimes it is darker and other times it is lighter. We have tried...

While the line is showing up on the output pages.
Stop printing and put paper in the manual feed tray (tray 1).
Start printing again. As a page gets pulled into the printer about 1/2 way open the top cover.
Pull out the toner and look at the page inside the printer. If it doesn't have the grey/black line, get the fuser replaced. It is defective.

I have a grey/black line all the way down the right hand side of the page

Run a half test.
Put paper in the manual feed tray.
Print something, anything
When the paper is 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover.
Pull out the toner cartridge. Look down at the paper.
Does it have a black line on the right side?
If yes, replace the cartridge. If no, replace the fuser.

The printer is printing horizontal thick lines approx every 5 inches down the pages, but not every copy? I've changed ink, but still happening!

Did you also clean the print pathways?

If not purchase paper path cleaner at your local office supply store. Follow the instructions on packaging to clean the printer. Those lines will automaticaly disappear. If not post me here.

The fuser is located in the back of the printer. I think it's held in by to screws. It's about hte same size as the toner cartridge. Please visit these websites.
