IBM System X3400 M3 7379 hangs at UEFI Partition Initialization

1: no options inside told.
2: no CMOS COIN cell ever lasted 13 years, so id dead
3: now BIOS is in CHAOS mode. dead battery caused,
4: new coin cell,.
5: reset bios to factory fresh defaults in BIOS page 1.
6: set time and date in bios.
7: set boot order or your boot drive or raid array based on #1 above secret.
8: load Server 2012R2 is best here . or linux or what is in the list .
if using raid it must be tested first the array under the raid controller. path. depends on what is there, not told.
a dead server can be accessed via, IMM like my dell DRAC
it has page called logs to read.
Id read them. (opps it flags coin dead , see?)_

IMM (remove manager) , READ THE LOgs , remotely.>?? first?
AND SEE LAST BOOT DEVICE./? (and what)????????????????
new coin cell and ....
THEN SET BIOS BOOT ORDER TO CORRECT BOOT DEVICE?
got raid?
1 raid or more.
1 for boot?
1 for data.?
???????????????????????????
look inside yet see what is there, even count all disks see where all connect . to what.
run the raid config, some servers have raid support DVD or uSB stick to boot and manage the arrays/, but what is inside matters first
some have upgraded LSI raid cards and that matters most if there, ?
day one new had 7 cards as an option. (just with IBM alone)
there are MORE. LSI makes great RAID cards,

Got raid?
The System x3400 M3 server supports optional spare DIMMs, memory mirroring, and RAID-0, RAID-1, and RAID-1E support standard with optional RAID-5, RAID-6, RAID-10, and RAID-50 available
most servers like this the built in raid is weak , not allowing raid 6 mode.so that matters too if that was done day1, last time.

the manual is here (lenovo says EOL, zero help)

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/installation-and-users-guide-ibm-system-x3400-m3-7378-7379

I anm not any kind of IBM guy. (data centers)
but have Dells here, and can work them well
IMM find and read all logs carefully,
most servers logs what disk drive last booted OKAY. explicitly/
and how to open the case and learn what is inside first. for sure all things RAID.

Disk 4 "is not ready"

> it does detect it on controller initiation.

Even when the drive is not spinning, it will identify itself (manufacturer, capacity) when queried. So, it's possible that it "checks-in", but files/directories on it cannot be read.

How to installed xp2 in server hp proliant ml 350 my hard drive ok

You may need raid controller driver for HP proliant ml 350. Copy raid controller driver in flopy disc, insert it in flopy drive, insert cd in cd driver, boot server from cd and start installation process, as soon as you see Press F6 if you need to install third party scsi drivers or raid controller, press F6 and follow the instruction. It will then ask you to select RAID driver file and then will continue to windows xp installation.

ML3670 does not boot as it does not found an boot disk

Replace HDD (Red Flashing ).It seems you have unknowingly disturbed your Raid . If Possible take backup of your server.Reconfigure RAID and Freshly Install OS .

Proliant does not boot from raid controller if external SCSI drive is powered on.

Try to disable boot to other device on your bios setting.

Make sure that your Smart Raid is set on the first boot device.

there must be some key on the startup to enter into the raid menu. And in that raid menu you can create raid .

Scsi raid with battery backed memory for pweredge 2550 server

if my memory serves me correct i think this server uses a onboard (3di) card it is set in the bios to use the raid configuration, under integrated devices .make sure this is so ,as it boots press f2 key to enter. If this is so exit.next step is to shut the machine off pull the drives away from the backplain not completly out. Power up if it starts laoding the raid configuration, once the scan is complete it will give you a container not found error, now here is what you can do go in i think its control m or r,anyway look at the configuration and what raid you set it up for.write down the drive number 0-etc.ok the next move is the raid key a little device that sits on the motherboard beside the raid dimm reseat this, now you may want to replace the raid dimm or if you have a exact match for troubleshooting purposes you may try this.

Server doesnt boot

First create a floppy disk with your RAID driver for W2K3 Server. Next boot the server with the W2K3 Server CD, and hit F6 when prompted, and S to add the specific driver for your RAID and using the floppy to get the driver installed.

Next boot to the recovery console of W2K3 Server. If it finds your hard disk, it will even ask for your Administrator's Password to continue. If this works, then you are probably home free.

Get to the command line of the W2K3 Server Repair console and perform some directory searches to see if the data is there and intact. You can also perform a CHKDSK from that console.

Once you have made sure your data is there and intact, type these two commands: FIXMBR and FIXBOOT

This should solve the problem and when you EXIT out of the console, it should reboot. Remove the CD and it "should" re-boot from the hard disk.

If you still have problems, let me know with how far you got with the steps above. I have another solution but need to know your RAID controller's model (ServeRAID 5i, 6i, etc).

Constant beep on poweredge 840 appears to work alright

Hi

Besides standard beeps codes indicating Processor, CPU, Memory or Systemboard failures,
Dell PERC (PowerEdge Expandable Raid Controller) or SAS Controllers (Serial Attached SCSI) generate beeps to alert failures on the RAID sub-system.

From your description of the issues (when the beeps start), i suggest you check PERC or SAS setup. If you have Dell OpenManage Server Administrator installed, you can log-in and check for more information. Additionally, on the next reboot check the PERC/SAS/CERC boot up for any messages. You may also access the PERC (Ctrl+M), SAS (Ctrl+R) CERC (Ctrl+A) Management Menu for specific failures and attempt a rebuild (assuming you have a redundant RAID Volume).

You can also speak with Dell Support and raise a warranty call if the system has warranty.

Note: PowerEdge 840 would ship with PERC or SAS Controller. PowerEdge 700 will ship with PERC or CERC.
