How do i configure ip address for my HP printer

Once you have your Canon PIXMA IP 2600 printer installed on your computer and connected to the computer with a USB cord, then, make sure both your computer and printer are turned on and follow the instructions on this YouTube video:

Hi, not sure why this is coming under the router section. You'd need to post a little more information about the problem. Is it with the IP address settings on your router or those wirthin the printer itself. If its
the printer itself - the problem solution is available here possibly.

Details To open the HP Embedded Web Server, type the IP address or hostname of the printer in the address field of a supported Web browser. To find the IP address, print a Configuration page from the control panel of the printer by pressing and holding the Go button for 5 seconds. The HP Embedded Web Server URL can be bookmarked for quick access at a later date. Supported web browsers include the following:

• Internet Explorer 6.0 (and later)
• Netscape Navigator 7.0 (and later)
• Firefox 1.0 (and later)
• Mozilla 1.6 (and later)
• Opera 7.0 (and later)
• Safari 1.2 (and later)
• Konqueror 3.2 (and later)

The HP Embedded Web Server has the following three tabs that contain settings and information about the printer:

• Information tab
• Settings tab
• Networking tab

Once the HP Embedded Web Server opens, perform the following steps to configure a static IP address:

1. Click the Networking tab.
2. Click Network Settings under Configuration in the left menu bar.
3. Click the TCP/IP tab.
4. Use the drop-down menu to change the IP Configuration Method to Manual.
5. Type the new IP Address in the box to change the IP Address .
6. Change any other applicable networking information, if applicable.
7. Scroll down the page and click Apply .
8. Click OK on the confirmation screen and then close the browser window.
9. Wait a few minutes and then print the Self Test/Configuration page and the HP Jetdirect Configuration page to verify that the IP Address has changed.

These instructions generally apply to all networkprinters with built-in network cards (print servers) such as HP LaserJetprinters, IBM Infoprint laser printers etc.This example is for a network HP LaserJet printer.To install a HP printer (with built-in Jetdirect printserver) as a network printer you need to do the following -
1. Open the printer's menu and enablethe Network Card - these print servers use a static IP address therefore,configure the IP address of the network card so it matches the IP range of yournetwork. Eg. If your IP's are 192.168.0.*** then set the network card to a highnumber say 100. (This is to prevent a conflict with the router issuing the sameIP address to a computer on your network). Then set the Subnet Mask IP address to 255.255.255.0 If you have a wireless router then check the IPaddress range that the router issues to the computers on your network andconfigure the static IP address in the printer's network configurationaccordingly.
2. Install the HP printer driver onyour computer/s using the LPT printer port.
3. Connect the printer with a LAN cableto the network hub/router.
4. Click on Printers and Faxes - rightclick on the HP printer and click on Properties.
5. Click on Ports and click on AddPort.
6. In available ports - click onStandard TCP/IP Port and then Configure port.
7. Tick the IP box and type in the IPaddress of the HP's printer IP address.
8. Click OK and tick Enablebi-directional support and then OK
9. Remove the printer cable, then do a test print to see if the printerprints correctly.
Install the HP printer driver on every computer on your network and configurethe printer's TCP/IP port as previously detailed.Do a test print page to check the printer.
You can now print from any computer on your network.

This model does actually have embedded network functionallity.
To configure the IP Address, follow the menu map as below:
1) - (4) I/O
2) - (4-2) Embedded JetDirect Menu
3) - (4-2-2) TCP/IP
4) - (4-2-2-1) Enable (Make sure this is 'On')
5) - (4-2-2-3) IPV4 Settings
6) - (4-2-2-3-1) Config Method (Auto = DHCP, Set to Manual in order to specify an IP address.)
7) - (4-2-2-3-2) Manual Settings (This is where you can set the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.)

and install the driver for your printer

For configuring the IP address on the printer, you will have to browse the printer menu, and the IP or TCP/IP should be under Network. Here is basic information about troubleshooting network issues from HP website.

Once you have set up an IP address to your printer you will be able to connect from PC via the web browser by typing in the IP address of the printer.

1. Launch your web browser.
2. In the Address: or Go to: field, type the IP address assigned to the
printer (for example: http://192.168.1.1) or the host name (for example:
http://myprinter).
If you do not know the IP address for the printer, it is listed on the
printer configuration page under Protocol Information in the TCP/IP
section.
To print a configuration page:
a. On the printer control panel, press Menu until INFORMATION
MENU displays.
b. Press Item until PRINT CONFIGURATION displays.
c. Press Select to print the configuration page. After the process is
completed, the printer will return to the READY state.
