I've had the same problem with a men's and a women's Wenger Marlboro watch. It's the one with the smooth crown. Both have very finicky crowns where pushing on them or other motion causes them to stop--sometimes only briefly, other times they stay stopped until the crown is pushed around and it starts up. The crown does screw in but it is not the screw down crown type meant to enhance water resistance. It seems with two watches with the same problem, this is common? Is the crown screwed in too far?? Maybe not enough?

The crown maybe a screwdown type. Try unscrewing (like jar lid)them pulling out the crown.
SOURCE: setting time and date crown positions
Yes, you must unscrew the crown before you wind up or set the watch. Always screw the crown down afterwards this keeps the watch in a water resistant condition.

Hate to say it but Wal-mart has the tools; seems like they'll do it for free if you buy the battery
SOURCE: setting time Wenger Swiss military brigade hinged crown protector
The crown protector is hinged on the lower end only. The upper end can be pulled away to expose the crown for time setting.

I definetely do know, but can not do that over the internet, as your watch needs to be opened and overhauled. Keyless mechanism in your watch must be cleaned and oiled for smooth and easy operation.
You have to find your nearest watch repair shop and ask to do that.
