Not detecting hi.my combo is not detecting any cd/dvd inserted.its takes much more time to try for detecting the cd/dvd inserted.what should be the reason?

For the sound card issue, try resetting the default BIOS settings, the re-installing the sound card driver from Acer's website
for the DVD issue try re-seating the drive then run this tool

Try this for your dvd
Start the Run Command Prompt

Type in "regedit" without the parrenthesis then click ok

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Then SYSTEM

Then CURRENT CONTROL SET

Then CONTROL

Then CLASS

Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

The whole thing looks like this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then delete the upper and lower filters....

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER

My first test would be to determine if the blank DVD is faulty. Try using a different brand of DVD and see if you get the same error. My experience tells me that your combo drive is faulty however. It is possible for a combo drive to read a CD but not a DVD. I would replace the combo drive with a DVD writer as they are not too expensive.

Try inserting a CD+R. im willing to bet the ones your putting in are CD-R. See if it plays those.

Sadly this is a fairly common problem with combo drives. In all likelihood, it will cost you more to have the drive repaired than to replace it.
I will suggest purchasing a dvd writer to replace the combo drive.
They are fairly inexpensive.

First i need you to make sure that both the BIOS and the WINDOWS is detecting your drive as 'combo' drive. If not, your drive is not combo, it is CD drive only.
Because both rely on the product ID that is built into the Drive.

If u are confirmed of the fact that your drive is COMBO, then the problem might be with the laser.
Combo drives use separate laser beams for DVD and CD operations, and
it's possible for one (either one) to fail while the other is still
working. But it's more common for the DVD to fail while the CD still works.
You need to contact the service center with your drive ,if that is the case.

Hi, i have LG GCC4522B CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive and my problem is that i could open & play CDs. However when i insert DVD the drive doesn't detect the DVD and it shows no DVD in drive or blank. I checked the region setting which is 1. Is it the problem of region setting if so is there any solution for this. Expecting your valuable solution in this regard.

You have to pre-select type of media in your burning program (CD or DVD) before adding files and commencing burning procedure.
