If your Saeco Vienna Deluxe espresso machine is experiencing leaks from above the door panel during coffee brewing, even after cleaning and descaling, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and address the problem:
Check Brew Group Seals: The brew group is a critical part of the espresso machine. If the seals or gaskets on the brew group are worn or damaged, they could allow water to leak out during brewing. Inspect the brew group and its components for any visible signs of wear or damage. If necessary, replace the seals or gaskets.
Check Door Seal: The door seal or gasket that creates a seal between the door and the machine's interior could be compromised. Inspect the door seal for any visible defects, cracks, or damage. If the seal is not making proper contact, it could lead to leaks. Replace the door seal if needed.
Overflowing Drip Tray: Ensure that the drip tray and the drip tray float are functioning properly. If the drip tray is full or the float is stuck, it could lead to water overflowing from above the door panel. Empty the drip tray and ensure that the float moves freely.
Brew Unit Alignment: Make sure the brew unit is properly aligned and inserted into the machine. If it's not properly seated, it can cause water to leak during brewing. Remove the brew unit and reinsert it, ensuring that it clicks into place securely.
Clogged Drainage Channels: Check for any clogs or blockages in the drainage channels or tubes inside the machine. If water is not properly draining, it can result in leaks. Clean out any debris or buildup that you find.
Water Tank Seating: Ensure that the water tank is properly seated and securely in place. If it's not properly positioned, it can lead to water leaks.
Internal Hoses and Connections: Inspect the internal hoses and connections for any signs of leaks or loose connections. Tighten any fittings if necessary.
Professional Service: If the issue persists after checking and addressing the above potential causes, it may be best to seek the assistance of a professional technician or service center that specializes in Saeco espresso machines. They can diagnose and repair more complex issues that might be causing the leaks.
sounds as though your brew head is clogged. when was the last time you descaled your machine? even if you've recently done it, it would not hurt it to do it again. descaling will eventually clean out the head and lines to the head and thus, your brew head should be despensing the coffee again. the reason it is having water coming from the frother is because under pressurization the water is shot into the areas that are open for releasing the pressure in the form of water. if one or the other outlets are clogged, then the next one available takes the pressure from it as it is re-routed to the only open source as your frother.
Dear Jon,

Sounds like the brew unit is blocked, to be sure try this, use the pre grounds button to brew a coffee, if no water comes out then it is the brew unit, remove unit and look under red o-ring, you will see a shower screen, clean shower and tube that flows to the discharge(top, you will have to remove the 2 screws up there, be careful not to lose the small plastic ball under the spring). Reassemble and try again.
Hi The solenoid valve needs back flushing the correct way with a espresso machine detergent like Cafiza, or Joe Glo. Place a 1/2 teaspoon in a blind basket. (don't come with Silvia). Place blind basket in portafilter and brew like making espresso, but run pump for no more than 5 to 10 seconds or until the pump starts to change tone (slow down). Stop the pump when either of these things happen or Silvia can be damaged. Repeat the pump 5 to 10 times leaving a 1 minute wait between cycles, or the suds comming out the 3 way valve turns pure white, with no coffee stains in the foam. Remove the portafilter and rinse then reinsert and repeat the cycles to rinse the internals. This should take care of the problem. If not you may have to replace the 3 way.
Hi Mi=ore than likely you have something under the needle seat that is holding the needle open. Usually it is scale. Try doing a descale manually. Mix the solution and put it in the water tank. Turn machine on and then immediately open the water knob. Run about 8 oz. and turn machine off. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes. Then repeat an 8 oz. run and turn off. Again let stand. Do this until the tank is gone. Then rinse, and test. If that does not do it, you will have to remove the top and remove the cover on the manifold that holds the needle and clean manually.
Just fixed this same problem by taking apart the water solenoid valve and cleaning out its connection tube of deposits that was blocking water/steam flow. I removed the magnetic coil but that's not required. The connector was very tight because it had loctite sealer on the threads. I used plumbers teflon tape on the threads when reassembling.
Replacement time. a certain percentage of thse have this problem. There is a small, non-replaceable tube in the inside toward the bottom that has become melted/damaged.
