A few weeks ago I noticed that it was taking awhile for the picture to come on. Remote was changing stations, sound level, but no picture, black screen. Then it came on. This was happening more and more, then this morning, the picture never did come on. I turned it off and on a few times. Then decided to just give it a break. So whenever I go by the tv set, I turn it on to see if the picture comes in. But it hasn't. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Just got the tv set back from the shop. Replaced the output transistor, driver transformer, and repaired hi voltage circuit, repaired printed circuit board, aligh sdcreens and screen voltage.

Rca has been known to have bad solder joints in the deflection circuits. Usually around the flyback and transformers.. check it over real good. Just be careful as you can still get shocked after the powers removed the capacitors and picture tube will hold a charge in them.

I believe you freezer has sprung a Freon leak. You described it and if it changes levels is a way of measuring what Freon you have remaining. Sometimes they can be repaired it depends on how they were built. Hope you did not loose much food, Sea Breeze
If there are no chasis numbers on the outside you may want to open the cast and check for numbers there. Then you might be able to google the number and find a manual. some TV's willl enter the menu or rest by pushing two buttons at once on the set. This could change your channel selection however.
A few weeks ago my set started flashing to a black screen. Now a couple of weeks later, i have no picture, but the set turns on and i have sound. The standby light is flashing. I purchased the set in 2000 so it is seven years old. This is the first problem. Could it be all three of the bulbs?

as you say that sound is ok that means your power supply &high voltage section is ok.
please check chroma ic luminance section or system control section stand by ckt
