HP 2575 printer - paper jam message

I hava an HP 2575 all-in-one printer . Recently started getting a paper jam message when there is no paper jam. Nothing I try seems to clear the error.

  • morrisma22 Dec 14, 2009

I've already tried to unplug it, wait, plug back in. The message clears but as soon as I try to print again, I get the message again. It looks like whatever mechanism used to sense a paper jam is blocked or something.

  • morrisma22 Dec 14, 2009

I have already tried the unplug power cord, wait, plug back in and turn back on sequence. The error message does clear but as soon as I print anything (even a test page) the paper jam error returns. It appears that whatever mechanism is used to sense a paper jam is messed up or blocked or stuck ...

Resetting the product may help with some false error messages. Press power button to turn printer off, unplug the power cord, wait a few seconds, plug it back in, press power button to turn printer back on. Any luck?

Examine if there are any torn pieces of paper are located inside the printer. If you view any such materials, discard them.
Uninstall the ink cartridge from the slot. Find if there are any bits of paper in the carriage slot. If any, remove them.
After a while, reinstall the cartridge. Check if the carriage moves from left to right and right to left. During the carriage movement, the torn pieces of paper may fall inside the printer. Check it and remove them.
Use a flashlight to remove from the slot while checking inside of the printer. All these above steps may resolve the issue.

Paper jam - can't clear error message

Hello Nj,

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} Paper jams are was very common on HP printer model.

Here are few instructions on how to clear the paper jam on your printer.

How to Clear a Paper Jam on an HP Inkjet Printer 1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer before you begin. With the power disconnected, you will protect yourself from being shocked. This is an important step when you are fixing any type of electronic device.
2. Move your printer so that you'll have access the back panel. Unhinge the back access panel of the printer.
3. Look for paper through the opened back panel. Remove any paper you find jammed.
4. Close the back access panel. Make sure that it latches into place and looks the same way it did before you opened it.
5. Open the front or top access panel. This is the panel you use to access ink cartridges. If the carriage that holds the ink cartridges moves, then you forgot to unplug the printer. Go back and do that now. Look for paper that may be jammed in this area of the printer.
6. Remove any paper you find jammed here. There will be resistance from the paper feeder, so pull slowly or the paper will rip and create a more serious problem.
7. Close the front access panel. Make sure that it latches back into place.
8. Plug the printer in and attempt to print again. If you can print successfully, you have removed the paper jam.

Hope this helps.

My wonderful HP 2575 cannot print good quality photos anymore

Had similar problem with my HP printer. Used cotton swab, soaked in rubbing alcohol, on all the rubber rollers. My printer has a removable back panel that gives better access to the rollers. May have to apply the alcohol several times to remove buildup and to help restore roller "grip".

2575 paper jam

This worked for me. If "Paper Jam" error message continues to appear after jam has been cleared, turn off power to printer. Navigate to Control Panel - Printers, right click on HP Photosmart 2570 series icon, click on Delete on drop down menu. This deletes printer from your system. Turn on power to printer. Printer will re-install (may need original installation disc, may not). "Paper Jam" error message should no longer appear.
