I had the same problem but i think the water tension is too high and the wick does not **** it up..just like wearing a new t-shirt and you notice that water beads up on the cloth. After wearing it and washing it,the soap in the detergent will have removed/dissolved the water tension and allowing it to clean the shirt. This removal will allow the shirt to absorb moisture easier.Same as the wick for the humidifier.Try to leave the wick in the device for an hour or so.You may add a tiny pinch of salt but not too much.Or better ,leave the wick in the bathroom when you shower as the air borne water particles will settle into the wick and trigger off the absorption effect.I hope it works for you.

My fan turns on, my filter is saturated with water but no water is expelled where normally there would be a mist to humidify.

All question need full 'make model (what it is)' to answer efficiently.

Some actually spay a mist of water, but the better one suck dry air in and blow moister air out through the saturated filter membrane.

The ones that spray water mist damage furniture and anything near it. If it is the spray type, it needs descaling.

What is proper procedure for running vinegar through my Hankscraft cool mist humidified?

Not sure why you would want to. Vinegar is typically used to remove calcium scale that remains after a heating element or electrodes boil off water. The Hankscraft 240 doesn't boil the water off. All the minerals in the water go out the spout with the mist.

Motor runs but no mist comes out on EV-HD15

If there is water in it, it sounds like the ultrasonic unit failed.

Humidifier will produce mist for a min then stop If you look you can see it producing mist within but it will not come out of the top Walgreens cool mist ultrasonic humidifier

I have had times where my Crane humidifier won't produce mist if I haven't turned it on for several days (4+) or more. The water that sits in the reservoir may develop a film on the ultrasonic element which inhibits the creation of the mist to come out the top of your humidifier. I would lift off the tank and empty the reservoir. Then VERY GENTLY with a piece of paper towel, wipe the ultrasonic element (looks like a disk the size of a quarter at the bottom of the reservoir) to clean off any film. Then replace the tank and let the reservoir fill up the tank and try it again.

If your humidifier runs properly for a minute and then makes a whirring noise and goes silent (like the motor stopping), then it's a motor problem. The humidifier motor may have gone out of alignment due to bumping or rough handling of the humidifier when cleaning or emptying it. If that is the case, you will have to empty the humidifier reservoir, unscrew the base, and find the screws holding down the motor and check for misalignment. Loosen them a little and put it back together and try again.

Best of luck

There is not mist coming out. What should I do??

The moisture released by this (or any ultrasonic) humidifier should not be visible, so it is very possible that it is working correctly. Try filling the reservoir and marking the water level with a small piece of tape. Then run the humidifier for a few hours, and check the water level again. If the water level is below the edge of the tape, then you know it is releasing moisture into the air, and everything is working fine.

The older style of humidifiers created a mist by spinning a disk that was partly dipped into the water reservoir. They had to be refilled often, and the mist could leave water spots or dust on nearby furniture. The water level should change very slowly in your ultrasonic humidIfier compared to a misting humidifier.

Why does my humidifiers does not have any smoke coming out?

My Guess is that the reletive humidity in the room is not low enough to see any vapors coming from the machine. Normaly you won't see these anyway. Some models in the stores seem to make more mist than what you get at home. If the humididty level in a room is close to what is coming out of the machine there will be no signs of any mist coming out. Just make sure the filters are clean and check and make sure the water level is going down on the machine and this will tell you its workin. the faster you are using the water in the tank the more you are putting in the air! If this is a hot mist machine then I would say the heating element in the machine is not working.

I have air-o-swiss humidifier. Recently I cleaned it. Its motor appears to be working after that but the mist is not coming out. Any clues?

When you cleaned it , did you remove water level sensor? If so did you put it back in upside down? The sensor is a plastic cylinder that is held down by a screw and washer.. If you have it in upside down, the empty water red light will be lit,,, if you unscrew the sensor and flip it .. it should start to work again..

Water on floor around humidifier

I haven't had any problems with my Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier other than the fact that the area surrounding it is slightly wet after operating for a couple of hours....While I understand that I was using this to moisturize the air during a cold, I knew this would happen, because the air in my room is not dry. If the room isn't dry, the mist that it's putting out in to the air has no where to go but surround the humidifier. All I did to stop this was to buy a water proof mat. I suggest you do the same -- Also, in regards to the water smelling -- You should be cleaning out and drying the basin after every use. Water shouldn't smell unless you let it stagnate inside the plastic -- Try running distilled vinegar through the machine for a couple of minutes -- Also, I would use an extension cord and let it run outside so that your house doesnt smell like Vinegar.
