Turntable repair? GE Profile model JVM1660BB

GE Profile Built in microwave model JVM1660BB. The turntable just quit. The turntable on/off switch is on. Cycling the switch results is minor clicking, but no change to turntable operation. Is it user fixable?

Have a spacemaker #1650 with a motor that I can hear turning but the turntable doesn't turn. Is there a replacable gear either on the motor or the "sprocket" that connects to the glass dish? I can turn the "sprocket" manually and can feel it skipping the teeth on the mating gear inside - presumably on the motor itself.

TWO WIRES OFF,AND TAKE THE MOTOR OUT AND BUY A NEW ONE. YOU CAN DO THIS BUT DO BE CAREFULL.. YOU
MAY HAVE TO PULL ON IT A LITTLE TO PULL IT APART FROM THE PEACE INSIDE THAT TURNS THE GLASS TRY NOT TO BREAK IT!

GE Profile Spacemaker XL1800 microwave turntable

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

On some, you have to cut the motor cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Turntable turns when door opened

This is usually caused by a defective door switch, or it may be out of aligment. Since there are a few of them a digital meter is required to troubleshoot the problem area. If you have the equipment I well describe how to test them.

Light and fan stay on and turntable no longer work

Hi,
Not sure if your model has a belt driven turntable or gear driven. The cause of your problem is most likely a worn or loose drive gear or a drive belt which is worn or has come off.
Best have this checked at your local repair shop.

Best wishes,

GE Profile Spacemaker Microwave - JVM1660BBC

The turntable has a small motor underneath it that rotates the glass tray. You could have a motor that is going bad, or the plastic spindle (what the glass plate sits on) could be slipping. You can access the motor through the bottom panel. Be careful to make sure the microwave is unplugged for attempting any repairs inside. There is potentially as much as 14,000 volts in the high voltage network around the magnetron. Let me know if this helps.
