You will have to dismantle the control box and see if the buzzing is coming from the cold control or from a defrost timer which is usually in the same area and is more commonly the cause of a loud buzzing. Whichever one it is you have to replace it right away. This is not a complete model number so if you need more help then post a full model number. Good Luck Appliance Specialists

Hotpoint refrigerator model # CTF16GKC.. a loud annoying buzzing noise recently started coming from below the fridge. What is this and what can be done to ELIMINATE it?

You could have a piece of paper hitting the condensor motor fan blade. Pull the machine out from the wall, unplug it and remove the fiber or metal panel at the back, bottom of the fridge. The fan will be on the right side. Check if for any debris that might be hitting the fan blades.

HOTPOINT FRIDGEFREEZER

Sounds like frosting up. Defrost completely...that can take 2 days. Restart. Also, clean the condenser. Check door gaskets, clean and replace as necessary. Don't keep door open longer than necessary.
