I've had my NAD T747 receiver for 2 weeks now and have been watching tv, DVDs and such for 2-3 hrs at a time with no problems. Last night after 2 hrs of watching tv (using the t747 for audio and video connected to HD cable box) at normal listening volumes, the receiver shutdown (tv and cable box were still powered on). I powered everything off and on again, and all was well for another hour, then the unit shutdown again. The t747 felt warm to the touch, but not excessively hot. The unit is in a stero cabinent with glass doors and only a small 4''' opening at the back for ventilation, and I do have my NAD DVD player sitting on top of the receiver
Is this the T747's way off protecting itself from overheating? ie., does the receiver have built-in circuitry to automatically shut down if it gets too warm? Or is this possibly a sign that something is wrong with the receiver?

"Thank you for your recent request via the NAD Electronics website. There are many reasons for the unit to be shutting down. It could be a ventilation problem or a mechanical issue. The problem is very difficult to try to resolve via e-mail.
The best thing is to contact the NAD dealer where you purchased your unit for servicing."

Could be speaker wires shorted together, but it is more likely that there is a fault in the output transistors or the power supply. The front right and left normally produce the most sound output and those transistors run hotter than the other channels. If you have the equipment and know how to check the output transistors, I would start there.
Modern AV receivers such as your NAD have protection circuits to prevent damage when there is a short on the speaker terminals. Look carefully at the speaker connections on the back of the AV receiver- for example, the speaker cable for front left speakers labelled + and - : there should not be any stray strands of wire that connect from + to - ; this would be a short circuit. Check each of the connections on the AV receiver as well as on the back of each of your Speakers themselves. Also ensure all connections are snug (do not use pliers). If this does not solve your problem, you may need to take your AV receiver on for a service checkup. Good luck !
There should be 2 buttons on the remote control that turn on power. One should be for all devices controlled by it and the other for devices you press first and then press that power button.
There is a difference in the PPV movies and the On Demand movies. You can only watch the PPV movies at certain times. If you purchase them and it has already started, you will not be able to watch it until the next start time. Or any start time thereafter for a period of 24 hrs.
The 2 blink error is a temperature error and the 6 blink error is a thermal fuse error. You may need to unplug the set and get you a can of canned air, take off the back lower cover and blow out all of the fans inside the set.
