Turn off the Biometric Device
(Note that depending on the version of Windows that you are using, the naming of files and related items maybe slightly different)
If you do not want to use the Fingerprint reader, you probably do not use the Security Platform as they are both related. If you are not sure, message me.
A. Go to the start menu, if you are using XP click Run, or in Windows Vista up, type in msconfig in the search space
B. In the new window that opened, click on Services Tab, then check the box 'Hide all Microsoft Services'. Un-check all items relating to infineon
C. Click on the Startup Tab and un-check all items relating to Protector suite and Infineon
D. Click on Apply and then OK. Windows will ask you to reboot, so I would reboot.
From now on the Fingerprint reader will be inactive, but still available should you wish to use it in the future. This is handy because Fingerprints are stored on the computer hardware and not on the hard drive. I bough an M400 which I am typing this on now, and it still had the fingerprints on it from the previous owner. Uninstalling the software does not make them go away, they have to be removed with the software.
