I have a whirlpool electric ceramic top stove. The large element seems to cut in and out it takes forever to boil a pot of water. We have bought new cookware made specifically for ceramic top stoves but the large burner gives us problems. I can boil water on the smaller burners faster than using the large. The only other problem is that the hot surface indicator stays on all the time for this burner can this be related to the problem. What can I replace ? Is there a sensor or maybe the thermostat? The model is RF386PXGQ1 super capacity 465
The sensor is built on to the top of the surface element if it was me id replace both the element and switch so you only have to go in once but its probably the element
yes it is it comes with the element and is the long rod you see when the element is on iff you look through glass the other is the infinight switch you turn it on with where the knob is just replace them both and will save you from having to raise the top but once

Is is correct that the hot surface indicator sensor is built into the element? What switch are you talking about? Can you ggive me part #'s?
