Will not dub another tape

There should be a button or switch that will select the recording deck and the dubbing deck. You put a blank tape into the recording deck and the pre-recorded one into the play deck. Pressing the record button on the dubbing deck, on some models should start the play deck running. If not press play on that deck.

Just connect the deck via tape 1 the out of the deck going to the in of the amp. While the out of the amp goes to the in of the deck.


The tape deck itself will automatically choose the player that plays the cassette. One will play the other will be on pause (if you press both play buttons) till the tape stops then the other will play. For recording from tape to tape one deck will be the copy and the other the copier. There should be a dubbing button which you press to record tape to tape. Some models have a high speed dub also. For recording from the amp unless both decks have record buttons you will only be able to record with one deck. Make certain the dub button is not set.

If the entire VHS is full then you can easily transfer the VHS contents to the DVD. The video will play while it is recording onto the DVD, but you don't have to have it hooked up to any TV for it to record. Now if you don't know how long the VHS content is that you want to record to DVD, then you will have to hook up the player to a TV so that you can press stop when you reach the end of the content you want recorded. At least this is true in the way that I use to transfer VHS to DVD:

1) Turn on the unit
2) Insert VHS tape
3) Insert DVD-+R or DVD-+ RW
4) Using remote, press VCR
5)Using remote, press play then pause the tape where you want to start recording.
6)Using remote, press DVD
7) Using the remote, press DUBBING. The VHS should start to play and the DVD should start recording

When using this method, don't hit the RECORD button!

Use the Dub video feature. This will work if the source is not copy protected. Make sure you have a writable (or rewritable) DVD with sufficient space available in the DVD tray (closed) and put your tape to dub in the VCR.

Press Setup on the remote and navigate down (up/down arrows) to Recording and press OK. Then select Dubbing Mode in the next menu level and press OK. When the Option menu opens, highlight VCR to DVD and press OK. Press Setup to exit this menu. Choose a recording mode using REC MODE on the remote. Press Play and then Pause when you reach the point where you want to start the recording (press quickly if you want to dub the whole tape; you will lose a few seconds while the dubbing starts so include 5 seconds extra if starting later in the tape). Then press Dubbing on the remote. The duplication will start. Press Stop when you reach the end of the section to record.

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

As far as I know, you need to press Record button to record from external source. If you press Dub, it will start Dubbing from Tape-A to Tape-B. You might be need to press Record and later press Pause or Play to start recording.

what I would do is play the vhs tape for a bit then rewind and press the dub botton only and see what happens. if nada then insert a new blank dvd and make sure its formated.

After looking @ the owner's manual online, I can see why you're confused. Man! It shouldn't that tough. You can always tell when the Chinese translate anything into English. If look you closely enough on pages 18 & 19, whenever the directions refer to "manual recording" one of functions that they don't specify is the recording of 1 tape onto another. The way that this manual was written the writer apparently didn't envision that anyone would want to do tape-to-tape (dubbing) recording.

On pg 18 it says to load a recordable (blank) tape into the B side deck. Easy enough. Next comes the tough to discern part.
In section 2 where it mentions "For Manual Recording and Sound Mixing:" Select the desired source to record or mix. In your case that would be the A deck. Here is where they needed to take a little time and explain that tape-to-tape recording is one of those possibilities. Notice that you'll need to place the B deck in standby. Then select the REC PAUSE/START to start the B deck & then (this is another place where they needed to be more clear) you'll need to simultaneously start (press the play button) the A deck which would be the recording source. In the future just remember that the A deck is the source and the B deck is the destination.
