One day i played my ps2,its the old big ps2,and i put in a game,i played it,and every thing was fine,the next day i played the same game again,by the way,i did not take the game out of the ps2 the day i played it,so it was in there over night,well the next day i played it and it said it could not read my disc,sometimes it doesnt play my brand new game.what is wrong with my ps2

If I understand correctly, it seems your lens might be eaither dirty or broken. First try to clean it with a cleaning kit, if that doesn't work, take it to a service center to have it repaired.

This is a sign of a bad video cord. replace it and it should work fine.

TIME TO GET A PS3

This is common with most of the ps2's it is that the ps2 is but takes alot of time so next time don't take any breaks buddy.

Try wiping the disks in a circular motion with a cotton t-shirt, tissue or cleaning cloth, then try again. If it still doesn't work, try a PS2 game. If it works, try another PS1 game. If the other PS1 game doesn't work, the PS1 part of your PS2 system may be broken. Your PS2 has, inside of it, a miniaturized PS1. If that mini-PS1 breaks, you can't play PS1 games. If the PS2 game doesn't work, you probably need a lens repair. If the other PS1 game works, then your games are defective and you should get new ones.

same thing happened to me two days ago, it would play everything but ps3 games. i called sony and they said it would be $150 again (in april i had a yellow light failure) so i looked online and someone suggested reformatting the harddrive and now it works fine......thank god

it might be the disk...when the ps2 cant read the disk sometimes it justs turns off...mine does the same thing....when i put in a another disk it works fine

Unlike the PS2 original, PS2 slim doesnt have a fan.
Playing it for 2 days, it most likely overheated and burnt something inside. I would return the console and get a replacement, if you have warrently.

It is best when finished with one game and moving to another game to reset your PS2 console before starting the new game. This way your sure to have fresh uninteruppted memory.

there is a little wheel type thing that the cd sits on when it goes into the drive, the wheel makes the cd spin, these often wear out , after you play it for 27 mins the device heats up which causes it to slip , which would most likely be the noise that you can hear , it wont cost you much at all to get this fixed at a game console service store, if your sure the cd is still spinning after 27 mins , and making the noise , it is the laser cog slipping , in this case it is best to replace the whole laser section, which is one part , and if your handy at things like that i suggest you just go and buy the laser reader from a game console repair store , and swap it over your self , it is pritty simple to do ,
