I turn the key and nothing happens, the engine light or brake light or the radio won't come on. the head lights and interior light works fine. Is it a fuse problem or possibly a bad connection in the steering column?

If you had said the radio did not work, I would say it was the key switch or a large fuse or fuseable link. But the radio is powered thru the key switch. The problem could still be the key switch or a major fuse, I would check all of the fuses then power at the key switch. Also check the ground connections.
You probably caused a short circuit when you changed the light. Change fuse #14. Next time, don't turn the lights on until you are finished changing the lights.
