How to Recover Data from Formatted Hard Drive
Data Recovery Principle
When a file gets deleted by the formatting of the storage drive, it doesn't really get lost, at least for a while. Yes, there is a warning saying that all files will be deleted during formatting, and the files will seem to disappear after formatting. But really, they are still there.
What really happens is that the operating system removes not the file itself, but its address in the system. Thus, the file seems to disappear but indeed, the file still exists until it is overwritten.
Only when a new file is created and takes up the storage space is the deleted file really lost.
So, between the time the file got deleted and the time it gets overwritten by a new file is the time you can recover your deleted data with a higher success recovery rate.
Data Recovery Software
Recovering lost data through formatting or unintentional deletion is possible through data recovery software. They search the drive for your files and give you a way to recover them.

Its Windows 7. I tried on Windows Vista as well. Same error. Is there any program witch can recover my data?
what version of windows?
is this a inside PC HDD or outside, USB HDD? not told. not one clue.
if the drive shows up in Windows diskManager, it may not be dead, if does not it is dead.
if not dead and gets a drive letter assigned,
if it gets (no PC told) a E: drive and some files are there.
do this.
always recover first, if drive acts up.
do not run DSKCHK or diskcheck until last., nor delete fails ,nor format the disk, killing all data now.
do not run defrag, (on a bad disk this kills dead good data) !!
steps all. IN ORDERhttps://pcdied.com/HDD-SDD/recovery.html
use Xcopy first if possible, and is not on any fully dead drive. dead is dead and if not head to spin it is DEAD.
this recovers data safely
then when this is done
try free RECUVA. or below is better,
the best is paid AOMEI, partition app. for sure recover wizard is totally amazing but only here at this point in time.
I just saved 25,000 files last week with free w10 built in, Xcopy. /C (C is a switch not drive)
costs $0
