It means that there must be a head phone or something still inserted in your phone. the line goes dead because the phone thinks that head phones are in and transfer it throught the head phones

if the problem of your c.p is always appear a headset icon on your phone even doesn't?
so your problem is the P.I. the parts that connecting to your head set it is replaceable or you can spray it with the contact cleaner to clean the contact..
If you still have the headset, connect it to the headset connector and remove it, do this several times and check everytime you disconnect it. If this doesn't help, please check if there's any short on the headset interface. Clean it with a soft cloth or cotton dipped in alcohol or spirit.
Your last option is to open it apart and check the headset interface internally. I would recommend you to visit a mobile repairing shop and get it repaired.

that problem can be caused by software problems and hardware problems. At first please factory reset by scurity code. Use tool box if scurity code is not standart code. If the step not sucses, you can chek headset conector ( you must disassembly the phone ) . chek and clean resistor and capasitor near that conector.
it only shows when you connect a head set to your phone check wether you have connected the head set properly it mainly cause due to losse connection in the head set port
The headset icon always appear in my nokia n70 and cannot remove and when i connect my headset ... it doesn't work . with or without headset the headset icon always appear in my screen .
this might be due to some connection prob or short circuitry occuring in the phone circuits.. try to see i fthe headset socket is clean of any metal impurities and then if there is visibly wrong outside, take it to th technician. its not advisable to open the set ourselves
