New battery runs down fast

Averatec AV 3250 HX 80-AMD Athlon XP-M2200+
3 years old
Battery ran down fast so bought new one( Averatec ) one $100
Installed and plugged in charger overnight.
Power meter said 99% charge on new battery.
Unplugged and ran on battery power.
After 10 minutes battery power meter said 56% remaining. It shut down after about 25 minutes total. Battery indicator then said 1% charge. The battery I replaced lasted longer I think but even new I don't think it ever ran more than an hour maximum.

Bios battery dead & no power for a week no prompt s on start up to reset bios do i need to replace chip. AMD ATHLON 2600 2003.

John,

You can easily replace the battery. Just take it off the mainboard, go to the nearest shop, buy new one and stick it back on the mainboard.

No need to replace anything else, only date and time might be messed up.

My Averatec 3200 keeps shutting itself down. The

A common problem with all laptop is dust. Sounds like you have 5 years worth of dust stuck in there. You should get a can of compressed air and blow though every vent you can! You want to loosen the dust that's in there and possibly try to blow it out and/or get it closest to the vents.

After that you should take a vaacum cleaner and **** out all the dust you can!

Dust inhibits air flow, alot! Its the number 1 killer of old computers.

Any fast??

It all depends on what you want to do with it. It is not surely the fastest PC in existence, and probably won't cut it for "serious" gaming, but it's more than enough to run XP and Office applications, provided it has also enough RAM of course.

1050 EB-1 not charging batteries.

Give Fremontek a call (I have no affiliation with them)
They know Averatec's better than anyone else I know, and can frequently diagnose via phone.

My bet is that youmight be able to "reset" or may need a power management board.
