MFG Date SEPT 1992. It's been a super TV, 2 days ago I set the sleep timer and it went off as it always does. Turned it back on next day and now it's in video mode and I can't get my universal remote to return it too TV mode. I'm using an ALL FOR ONE 6L remote. Changed out batteries, re programmed..I'm lost!

If you have comcast, you can use that remote.
http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/HelpNFC.aspx?print=false&id=remotes
If you look at the number pad, the input button you seek is where the star key is on a phone.
I don't know if this will help with the sleep timer issue.

Hi, Not usually especially if the remote had a sleep timer button. the only excception is if the tvis fitted with buttons for accessing/navigating the menu functions from the local keyboard.
A quick way to verify if theremote is outputting any IR is to view the front of the remote with a digital camera/ phone camera etc whike pressing a button. you will normall see a white flickering light if all is well. note this doesn't confirm if there is good signal - more only an indication the remote is operational

Black screen and no sound after a few minutes.

First, here is a copy of your manual in case it is missing.

http://www.warrantyweek.com/library/ww20061219/panasonic-th42px60u-manual.pdf

Next, check the settings of the sleep timer.
Select on the remote:
Menu.
Timer.
Sleep.
See if there is a time setting in there. You may also find a shortcut from the remote labeled "Sleep".

If this fails to resolve the issue, you can always reset to factory defaults. To do this, select from the remote:
Menu.
Setup.
Reset.

Hope this helps. Be sure to let us know how this helped.

TV will not come on with remote or power button

The following instructions are for the Emerson EWC1303/1903 tv/vcr. That's the closest match I could find to the Spongebob Squarepants 13' TV
If it's actually in Sleep mode, do the following:

TO CANCEL THE SLEEP TIMER
Press the WAKE UP/SLEEP button on the remote
control until “SLEEP TIMER” appears.
To view the time left for sleep timer press the WAKE
UP/SLEEP button twice, then press the MENU button
on the remote control to exit the sleep timer setting

If unsuccessful, try unplugging the TV for 1/2 hour, then plug it in and try turning it back on either manually or with the remote. Either of these should solve your problem. Best of luck to you!

Color messed up on tv since lightning strike

your tv may have ben magnetized by the lightning strike.
tv's have an automatic degaussing circuit that demagnetizes
the pix tube when the set is turned on. this degaussing circuit
may not be working or magnetism may have been too strong for
the internal degaussing to correct.
contact local tv repair shop in your area see if they can manually
degauss your set , it should be a min. service charge around $25.

No sound,volume bar works

Sounds like it may be something you did. Have you checked to see if you accidentally put the sound on mute? Try hitting the mute button on the remote control. Also, if the TV has the option to turn of internal speakers (which you would likely find in the menu under audio settings if it does) make sure they are turned on. If these checks fail then we have an electronic problem to deal with.
