SOURCE: 2004 mercury mountaineer door ajar light

Ends up being a broken wire(ground) in the rubber boot between door and frame. I carefullly removed door panel, pinched the ends of the boot and slid it back into door. And there it was...a broken black wire. Spliced in a new piece of wire, reassembled everything else. Everything works like it should. It's really not that hard just take your time. Also before I started I disconnected the battery as a precaution. Goodluck.

SOURCE: Door Ajar Light

the switches for these vehicles are in the latch and they seize up from time to time. you will have to spray some penetrating oil into the dor and rapidly close and open the door hard to try and fix it. if that doesn't work then you will have to figure out which door it is and replace to latch. note if key is on, the dash will make a tone everytime you open and close door. so the door that doesn't chime that is the door with the issue.

All doors are shut, but it keeps dinging and the lights stay on?

common problem, you either have a defective door switch or gem moduale, first we can spray some wd-40 or any spray lube in the door latches of each door, and open and close the doors afterwards. most of the time they are dirty and stuck. If the problem still exists then we need to test each door ajar switch.

04 EXPLORER DOME LIGHT STAYS ON, DOOR ADJAR LIGHT ON, DOOR JAMB SWITCHES WORKING PROPERLY.

At least one of your door ajar switches are sticking. Try spraying rust penetrant into the latches and open and close the doors several times. If they still stay on you will have to locate which latch it is by removing the door panels and disconnecting the switches.

My van dings all the time when under 20 mph and the light stay on for 15 min. after car is off. The door ajar light is on but all doors are shut. Is this an electrical problem? Is there a way to shut off...

one of the door/van loading door switches has failed it thinks a door is open so the the interior light stays on and the door open warning will ding the interior light should have a switch to disable it or take out the bulb but you cant stop the dinging until you find the faulty latch switch and fix it

Door ajar and interior lights won't go off!

open the door and there will be a small piece of plastic that can be pushed into and out of the door jamb. You will need to replace that because it is not telling the computer the door is shut.
