SD card slot -

The user guide shows a smaller card slot under the PC card slot for SD cards. However, my M35X-S161 only has one large slot - too wide for SD cards...what am I missing.
Thanks

The slot is for multiple card formats, usually SD/CF/xD/MMC etc...

Look at it closely you should see different contact points inside, your sd card should slip into one of the slots inside the larger slot.

BUT!!! Some user guides are printed for entire families of notebooks and mention all the available options for that type of notebook. Your laptop might not have come with an SD card slot at all even if it is mentioned in the book.

Need to plug in large sd card into smaller slots on acer computer what do I need

You will need an adapter "Yes" You have a Micro vs a Mini I believe here is a good link for the type of adapter you may need. They are found at Bestbuy and Walmart as well I just bought one. Also amazon.com has really great pricing and fast shipping I use them all the time for these sort of items for sure. I just checked the price at amazon and it was $7.00 instead of $19.00

Satalite m35x-s161 how to replace the keyboard?

Toshiba Satellite How to remove keyboard and upgrade memory modules. This post was written by cj2600 on April 28, 2006
Posted Under: Toshiba Satellite A20/A25 --> toshiba-satellite-a20-a25-memory.jpgRemoving and replacing memory on a Toshiba Satellite A20 or A25 notebook is not as easy ad it should be. Both memory modules are located under the keyboard. A laptop keyboard has to be replaced in order to get access to the memory modules. Before you remove the keyboard do not forget to remove the laptop battery or you can damage the laptop. Be careful when you remove the keyboard securing strip; do not bend it too much. To remove the memory module from the slot on the system board, release the latches on both sides and the memory module will pop up. It will stay at a 30 degree angle to the system board. Firmly grasp the memory module and remove it from the slot.

SD card does not seem to fit in the SD card slot

Is the SD card a mini type or a standard SD card?
The standard SD card is 24mm wide X 32mm long.
If it is a mini SD card you need to purchase a mini SD to standard SD adapter, then you will be able to insert it in your Compaq.

How does the 5 in 1 card reader work on the Acer Aspire 5920 laptop? I am not sure how to get the SD card into this slot. Thanks

There should be 5 slots. Near each slot has the trademark of the card that the slot is for. If you are unable to identify the trademarks or there aren't any ways of finding which slot is which, then try each slot. Do not force your SD card into the slot. There should be only one slot that is the perfect fit for the SD card. Just slightly change the angle of the SD card until it slides in. The SD card has little to no extra room so it will take a little while to get the SD card in. Also the slot is spring loaded so you should here a click when it is in correctly.

If you have trouble, just keep trying and don't force it in. Trust me that it will fit if it is the right slot. Sometimes I get my SD card into my Wii or laptop in under a minute and sometime I have to mess with it for over 5 minutes (the angle of the stand for the Wii doesn't help at all).

Once you get the SD card in correctly, it will show up as a drive in "My Computer" but Windows XP and Vista have normal alerts with a "new hardware found" tone. Think of it as an USB flash drive that is smaller and goes into a specific slot.

When you are done, just push the SD card in and the slot should eject the card so you can pull it out.

Good luck and I hope you get it in.

Acer aspire 7004 flash card slot

Your computer doesn't support compact flash cards. Your SD slot is a 5-in-1 card reader, supporting Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick® (MS), Memory Stick PRO? (MS PRO), xD-Picture Card? (xD). The big slot is for PCMCIA devices.

Toshiba M35x-s161

Check out this page and click on the bottom tab. You'll see some sections outlined in red. Note that one of them says "Memory and Wireless Module Cover". That would be where the mini-PCI card would be. Some of the Dell laptops actually tell you how to remove the mini-PCI card in the user manual, but the manual of this Toshiba (found online) just says "don't do it". It's not that hard, but ifyou haven't done it before, I'd recommend you take it to a pro.
