I dropped my phone and now the ringer no longer works on my Nokia 6585. Is it possible to get parts?
There are no parts. per'ce, for this. the ringer function is electronic. Make sure you dont have the ringer turned down or off.
I expect the 'ringer' plays through the ear piece or speakers. Can you hear conversation through the ear piece of speakers? Will the phone alert you in Vibrate mode?
Since you say the ringer is turned on (and turned up)... and you have selected some tone, in fact (doubble check) ... I have this opinion:
I am not a Nokia bench qualified tech. I would say if there is no sound coming out when your phone rings, there is a possibility that you have damaged a PCB or connection inside. This is not a repair I would be willing to take on myself unless the phone were a throw-away or it was clearly for the learning experience. I'm certain there are a lot of specialty tools required to work on the micro circuits found in modern cell telephone circutry.
If the phone otherwise works and you can be alerted by the vibrate mode, you may want to consider leaving it alone until you can replace it or have it repaired by a pro. Your service provider may be of some assistance in this regard.
That is my thought.
Good luck to you my friend and thank you for your interest in FixYa.com

Not a bad bad guess on my part, eh Jim? I'm glad your found a guy at the repair shop with a disposition similar to mine, someone that ignores the facts and took a look at it anyway.. I got to be careful here that I don't hurt my arm as I pat myself on the back.
My wife is on her third smart phone. She has never been happy with the phone. She likes the Smart Part but the phone part has lacked in the past. She just started with a Droid and she seems to like it pretty well, though it uses power at a pretty high rate. My daughter has the iPhone and it eats batteries. I think the Droid is pulling ahead in the race.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I am delighted your dinosaur is feeding again. Best of luck with it.
Thanks

The ringer is turned on. What would need to be replaced to repair the phone?
Thanks for your reply. On my first stop at my provider's repair department, I was told the ringer was electronic, no parts were available and it could not be repaired. When I stopped back tonight, a repairman actually took a look at it. He disassembled the phone, cleaned it up, especially the contacts, put it back together again and it works! Boy am I happy as I really like this dinosaur since all I want is a good reliable phone with good reception, audio quality and battery life. I'm sure a smart phone is in my future some day, but not what I require or would utilize at this point in time. Thanks, Jim.
