Plug the sansa into your pc. go to 'my computer' and right-click the sansa. click 'format' and click 'quick format' on the pop up screen. this will effectively reset your sansa, and give you a fresh start.

Sansa e130

ok, for everyone with e130 "keeps getting an I/O device error, only language screen, than something about 4MB memory..." problem, I just spend six hours of my life trying to solve it and fix my dad's e130 and I succeeded ;)

so, step by step, how EXACTLY I did it:

0) my system was windowsXP SP2

1) remove the battery
2) keep holding the menu button and plug in the usb, keep it for a few seconds more, untill the system will tell you it found a stmp3500 and want to install the hardware
3) allow it to reach windows update for that matter and install the drivers
4) now you have new device that is called "Player Recovery Device Class" you can check it in device manager (Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager)
5) and now is time for flushing new firmware...I managed to find two versions of firmware for e130:

1.0.101e - http://www.sandisk-karty.cz/sandisk-katalog/sansa-e100-series-mp3-players/dokumenty/
2.0.0.01e - http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1295

6) I tried both of them in many different combinations and finally one and one only miraculously worked for me and that was the one when

I HAD THE SD CARD IN THE MP3PLAYER, THE PLAYER WAS RECOGNIZED AS "Player Recovery Device Class" BY THE WINXP AND I STARTED EUROPIAN sansa-2.0.0.01e.exe !

PS: i don't think that there's a big difference between europian and american version of firmware I mention it just to be accurate about the situation. and big thanks to anonymous guy who turned me to right direction with stmp3500. hope that help to others ;]

Searching for new music

Take the memory card out, clean the contacts and if you have an air duster clean the socket, reset the device by doing the following; take the battery out, hold the power-on button for 30 seconds (time it as it will seem to take forever). Put a new battery in and try it again. If this is no help then it would seem that either the memory card's file system or the internal memory's file system so plug the device in over USB and backup any data your PC can find. with anything that can be rescued, rescued format the memory using FAT32, do not use quick format. Alternatively you can buy rescue software from SanDisk www.lc-tech.com/software/rescueprodetail.html but it's not guaranteed to help.

Internal Searching for music

I had this same problem. I moved all the files off the device. Went into Windows explorer. Right clicked on the Sansa device (the internal memory, not the expansion card memory. Clicked on format and on the screen that came up I picked "Quick Format." I have just now moved all the music (but not the system files) back onto the player. Turned it on and it is now working. Hope this helps

I hate blue

goes off because the backlight is on a timer. after 20 seconds or so it turns off if no buttons are pushed. if the player will still play music but nothing shows on the screen, then the display is shot. The screen is not replaceable on these players. sorry, but it's most likely junk now. You could use it as a data storage device still. Best bet is to buy a used player off ebay or amazon.

Sync to player and memory card without duplicates

I got this from:http://www.livedigitally.com/2005/06/27/sandisk-sansa-e130-the-micro-version-of-the-ipod-mini/ Create two playlists with names such as 1. SANSA Internal and 2. SANSA 2GB (assuming your SD card is 2gb). Load songs into each playlist. Edit the sync properties for each drive to only sycn to those playlists. Sync!

Battery

I'm having the same problem! I've had my Sansa e130 for exactly one year today. I loaded new music on it last night and when I tried to turn it on, it said "searching internal memory for new music." I left it on and this morning it wouldn't come back on with new batteries or even when hooked to a computer! I sent an e-mail to the company for help since there is no reset button. I haven't heard anything yet. I suggest you contact SanDisk too. They may have a problem. And I can't believe someone actually suggested as a solution to put a new battery in it or hook it up! No duh! We're looking for real help here, not the obvious things to try.
