On/off switch for Fujifilm S5500

On/off switch "detached" from camera, any ideas how to put it back on? If it's a take it apart job, how's this done?
Cheers, Adam

SOURCE: conversion lenses & filters

These screw on the front of the plastic lens adapter and adjust the focal length. On the side of the adapter lenses it will quote the ratio. My wide angle says 0.66x so just multiply the range of focal lengths by this figure and you will see that it adjusts the camera zoom accordingly - making the image wider and probably also increasing the depth of field (what is in focus). Similarly a 1.5 tele will inrease the range of focal lengths to make the lens "longer" eg higher magnification , useful for astro photography - shots of the moon and terrestrial long distance work but detracting from the depth of field, eg the range of distance over which objects are in focus will be reduced.

The wide angle will allow you to come in close and get WIDE objects fully in-frame- hence "wide angle", while the telephoto will give you better overall maginification of the image but will probably increase the MINIMUM focal length - eg you may not be able to focus on objects closer than >2m (instead of ~1).

The screw-on adapter lenses I found were cheap in a Jessops sale use a 52mm thread, while the S5500 provides a 55mm internal thread. I use an appropriate 55mm to 52mm step down ring adapter. There is slight vignetting (shading around the edge of an image) at certain combinations of zoom, but generally these are very useful accessories.

As these are adapter lenses on the front of an already powerful 10x zoom that must be optically compromised at the price of this camera, there maybe some colour fringeing around bright images. If you want a better solution you really need to get a DSLR. Overall a good solution for the price.

When i turn on my fujifilm s5500 i cannot take any photos or view and photos, if i format the card on the camera it than says card full. Than if i turn the camera off and than on again it comes up with...

I downloaded a PDF manual for your camera to make sure what I was about to say was indeed correct. My first impression/thought about this problem is that your camera Firmware is not capable of that size a memory card. I looked into the card capacity and according to the PDF manual you camera takes an XD - Picture card the capacity on the original Firmware is for 512mb here is a chart.
XD Card Max covers the S5100 and S5500 models
tri3mast_136.jpg

You may be able to go onto the Fujifilm web site and actually update your firmware.

Another thing that came to mind is that these cameras are often "clock" dependent and if the camera batteries have been removed for some time the clock date and time may also be giving an error. However my first impression is that the memory card is to large in capacity.

My Fujifilm s700 camera wont turn on as the cover of the sd card - Is it possible to find a replacement cover. The door can be easily detached from the camera, and I am hoping I will find that part. Any...

The cover has a small pin on it that presses a switch. If you can use something else to activate the switch you can operate without the cover. MAKE SURE you power off before popping out the card or you risk corrupting the storage card and losing valuable pictures.

Fiji Finepix S5500

solved my own problem, but for the benefit of others.
the camera is held together via about four/five small phillips screws. these need to be removed. the back of the camera will come away from the body. Make sure you don't pull too hard as there is a small connecting ribbon between the camera and the rear circuit board attached to the back. This ribbon is held in place at either end by small brown/tan coloured clips that hinge up to release the ribbon and down to clamp the ribbon to the connections. Try removing the ribbon ends and replacing it. If you are careful you can do this with batteries in place. Make sure you have your card in place, it won't work otherwise. I just realigned the ribbon and the camera works wonderfully. Might help with other errors. also a small ribbon attached to the multi function button, may have the same result for other problems. good Luck.

Fujifilm A330

My switch was dirty... very dirty. I took my camera apart (NOT SUGGESTED FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW) and cleaned it which was NOT the easiest job. I would take it in to get it serviced if youw ant to play it safe. Take it apart only if you expect to never get it working again. You may not have a camera anymore BUT you will learn a thing or two. Who knows, you may just fix it as well. DO NOT POUR ALCOHOL INTO THE CAMERA. It can leave a residue on the inside of the lens.
