I have a dell studio 1737 laptop i purchased in Feb of this year. my computer works for about 10-15 minutes then crashes completely. i went into safe mode and found that the consumer IR devices will not load. Device Status:- this device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (code 31) Also did a short drive self test and the result was fail error code 0F00:065D MSG DISK - DST seft-test Read Error. can anyone help please thanks

    Thanks for both of your solutions. obwhon, F8 didn't work i'm afraid. And i've realised that i actually bought it in May this year so its even newer.



    Anyway i'm ringing them tomorrow to sort it out. thanks guys

0F00:065D is a hard drive read test failure. the hard drive is failing. If purchased in Feb, the system should be under warranty call Dell Tech Support to get a replacement hard drive. (800-624-9896 in USA)
If out of warranty you can get a 2.5 in SATA HDD at Newegg.com for about $60

Try hitting F8 several times when booting to get to the boot menu and choose start with last known good configuration. BTW when booting in safe mode no drivers will load. You don't have a cdrom or any peripherals it's just safe mode.

Dell Studio 1737 with Back lit keyboard but Cap Lock Doesn't Light, replaced Keyboard less than 3 months ago, light worked then and went out just recently.
I'd try a different keyboard and see if the caps light works on that - so you can confirm whether it's the keyboard, or computer.

It could be one of two things, the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard is disconnected.

Or it's a defective keyboard.

Keyboards for laptops are relatively inexpensive, anywhere between 20-40 dollars on ebay.
Buying a new keyboard and having a computer technician install it, which takes ten minutes, should be a good investment, rather than getting a new computer or sending it back to dell.

look for a new bios on dell website.. this should work.. if not.. it would be a mobo issue.. if your laptop just shutsdown then its a battery problem as long as you have warrenty you can get it replcaed.. all good.

it could be the connection for the battery is damaged in some way, my advice would to take it to a repair shop, let the pro's have a look, power problems should always be dealt with by someone qualified, for you own protection. good luck with it.
