The draft inducer comes on and the furnace lites as normanl Goes thru its cycle and kicks off. The problems is the draft may not kick on the next time and sticks and the motor gets hot, If I go remove the furnace panel door and slightly bump the motor(after it cools off) with the side of my fist several times the inducer will kick on and the furnace will light. Note: I have to turn the thermostat down for a while before this proceedure to allow the motor to cool off. Without doing this the motor will hum and get even hotter.

When a furnace is replaced with a newer style unit like yours with an inducer motor, they sometimes use the old vent pipe. These old style vent pipes are transite (light weight cement), the moisture created from your furnace exhaust is caught on the cool transite surface and runs back down into the blower blades or wheel bringing a white mineral deposit with it which causes your problem. The vent should nave been replaced with the heater using a metal vent material. You will need to replace your inducer motor assembly and vent pipe to prevent a recurrence.

Just replace a similar draft inducer Fasco item and the problem with the old one was the blower wheel had slid down the motor shaft and was rubbing on the housing. I was also able to get my old blower going but "pushing in" the motor shaft. This allowed the motor to spin up the wheel and function till the next cycle. Also, a clue that this is a problem is the "thumping" noise from the furnace when it cycles on. New unit is so quiet I can't tell if the furnace is on!

Had what seemed to be similar problem

Check drain tube coming off fan. Stopped fan noice when water drained and allowed burner to run. Presure sensor was fuled by the trapped water. I cleared drain tube of clog and reattched tube. Problem solved.

Draft Inducer problem

On the call for heat from the thermostat the inducer should come on first, a pressure switch proves that the inducer is moving enough air up the stack, closes and energizes the ignition and burners come on. 30 to 60 seconds later the blower comes on. Everything should stay on as long as the thermostat is still calling for heat. When the thermostat is satisfied the burner and inducer shut off and the fan will run to remove the heat from the heat exchanger and then shut off. Cycle complete. Some inducers have a post purge so when the thermostat is satisfied the burner shuts off, the inducer runs for 30 seconds or so and then shuts off. I am thinking that your furnace may be running on the limit switch and when the burner is off but the inducer stays on, maybe the limit is shutting of the inducer. Check your air filter and make sure all your heat registers are open and that the return air grill is not blocked.

My heil high efficientcy 5000 furnace stopped running, I checked the pressure switch and repaced the siction hose. That was not the problem. The motor hums for a while and then it switches off the motor...

If the induced draft motor does not come on first then thecontrol board will not let it go any further. I would replace the draft motor and hopefully that will fix your problem. Good luck and thank you

Plenum seems to be heating up but blower fan cuts out before it can blow heat through the house

Probably a bad fan/limit. The way it works is the heat comes on first then as the air gets warmer the bi-metal twist around on the fan limit and at around 110f the fan kicks in. If the fan don't kick on then the limit kills the heat so the furnace don't get too hot.
Newer furnaces use a computer board to drive the fan with a timing sequence.

Of course it could be something very simple such as a contaminated flame sensor. If your furnace if one of them fancy new fangled machines which use a draft inducer fan the control may not be sensing ignition and auto cycling on and off. if that is the case get a dry brillo pad and remove the sensor. Give it a good clean and re install it then retry:

Rheem 90+ NG Furnace. When furnace starts, draft inducer starts, ignitor glows and gas ignites. Burners stay lit for 10 seconds or so, then the flame reduces for a few seconds then goes out. Main blower...

Check the draft inducer air switch ( vacuum diaphragm switch) If the switch is opening when the burner starts, you might have a blockage on air piping coming into the furnace. Also prime the condensate trap on the condensate drain from the combustion fan. Also check the gas pressure, if your gas pressure is dropping, the gas pressure switch will shut it down. If it's too high the moment it comes on could raise the pressure in the furnace dropping out the combustion fan proving switch.
