Hello, my names Dave and I own a plasma / LCD repair shop in Portland, OR. I also sell factory replacement parts for Plasma & LCD type TVs! All the parts we sell are warranted not to be DOA (Dead On Arrival) with a full refund or replacment part! I'm messaging you to let you know that I have all the part for your TV (Samsung PN58B540) in stock! I also provide TV repair tech assistance!
With the brief description you have provided I can tell you that you most likely have a bad A/V board! This board controls input video signaling and power signaling! Please feel free to contact me at www.pleasefixitdave.com you'll find all my contact info at this web site! I would like to get a little more info from you regarding what the TV is doing wrong!

Thank you!

Dave

32 inch tv/dvd combo cuts off on its own

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
https://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.//

DVD picture cuts in and out first 15 minutes

This is like the problem I had for some months. After a lot of exchanging cables and troubleshooting on forums like this, I decided to call in the Sony service engineers.

The problem turned out to be nothing more than a menu selection. You need to check the setup menu under video and select the colour system you are using (NTSC, PAL). The factory setting on the TVs is 'auto' apparently and sometimes a weaker signal will cause the auto colour setting to drop in and out. In our case we set it to PAL and the problem has not recurred.
