Try unplugging the Convergence amp board, which is located behind the speaker grille. If the set will power up with the Convergence amps unplugged the ICs will need replacement. I have seen many JVC in both the WP30 and WP74 pop through the speakers when the ICs short. Unplugging them takes them out of the equation and the set will power up but the pic will have severe convergence issues.

The clicking you hear is probably caused by a relay that controls the incoming AC to the main power supply. This is a protective reaction to a problem in the power supply itself or an overload due to a failure downstream from the supply. This is not a likely DIY repair. You will probably need a technician to determine which of these two likely problems it is.

My jvc model# av-65wp74 the screen is bowed and the colors will not match up.i have put in two new convergence chips still no luck.

did you check the low ohm resistors. A JVC will almost always blow at least one and if the ICs are replaced without replacing the resistors the new ICs will fail instantly

JVC's have been known to develope audio problems if the Convergence ICs short considerably as often you can get a popping through the speakers or in rare cases no audio at all. I would install a convergence repair kit and see if that cures both problems. Your model uses the AV48WP74 - 65WP74 convergence repair kit. www.tvrepairworld.com has the repair kit and it also contains the CD with detailed repair instructions for your model.

JVC AV-65WP74 clicks and sounds like a heart beating and then turns off. what is the problem, how much will a repair cost?

it could either be convergence ics shorted or deflection board trouble
as to cost convergence 300 to 350
if its power supply 300.400
it would have to be isolated down to the exact location causing the problem
but usualy a great set to keep around

When the power come on it makes a Popping sound

Classic convergence driver failure for this unit. I call it "the thumps." Convergence drivers are two large chips inside (STK392-110), one of which has gone bad, but both need to be replaced. There are also several resistors around the drivers that have also sustained damage and need to be replaced. I recommend a television shop do the work for you because, unless you have good, solid soldering skills, the board can be rendered unusable by excessive heat/prying, etc., and the HD input can be **permanently disabled** by opening the back of the Television without properly preparing it.
