There is no belt in this machine. The brushes are turning by an air driven turbine. The turbine has a pivot bushing made of steel inside of it that gets rusty because of the water that is running through it. The turbine will have to be replaced and they are expensive. Unfortunately, replacing the turbine and not a lasting solution. It will do it again and again. It is designed poorly.

Well first u have to disassemble the top of the steamvac 5 brush agitator, then remove the turbine and open it up to remove the two teeth wheels. Then turn over to open up the turbine part, u will see underneth the steel turbine. Use a hammer and screw driver to hit the steal piece out, then grease it and the inside where it goes. Then slide it thru a couple of time and hammer it back the way it was, then reassemble everthing. (To open means to remove screws then open.)

Why Dyson dc39 brush bar won't spin

Remove brush bar cover...is the belt broken, cut or stretched to the point of being ineffective? Is the brush bar full of hair or string?
Pull the belt forward...does the pulley spin? Turn the cleaner on
and see if the pulley spins...if it does I think a new belt will be needed.
Be sure to buy the right one.

Regards,
Dennis

Vacuum Brush Bar Not Spinning

" My vacuum brush is not spinning". OR
" My vacuum brush is spinning but not picking up".
" My dirt sensor doesn't work, continually blinks".

These three things are very common in vacuum cleaners and they are nothing serious. There is a rubber belt that drives the Brush Bar.You simply need to replace the belt.

* If the Brush Bar is not spinning, then you know that the belt is broken.
* If the Brush Bar is spinning but not picking up anything, then the belt is stretched to the point where it is now spinning on the Brush Bar. When this is the case, you may smell the belt burning and you may even see a little smoke.
* And, if the you have a dirt sensor on you vacuum and it continually blinks, this is due to a bad belt as well.

Whatever the case, the belt must be replaced. Belts are very easy to replace. In most vacuums, you turn the vacuum over and pop off the bottom to access the belt. In some other vacuums, there will be a little door/cover that pops off on the top side of the vacuum; allowing access that way.

You can pick a belt up at your large department stores or Do-It-Yourself Centers. These stores usually only carry specific brands, depending on each store you search. You may want to call around first. The belts are very reasonably priced for the most part.

Or, if you would rather shop on line, here is a link to belts. Just look up the Make and Model # of your vacuum and order.

Brush won't spin when carpet cleaner is running

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning, the brushroll bearing might be jammed. Try removing the brushroll assembly and cleaning all hair, string, lint, etc. from the brushroll bearing. If that doesn't solve the problem the brushroll may need to be replaced.
If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning, the brushroll assembly itself might be jammed. Try removing the brushroll assembly and cleaning all hair, string, lint, etc. from the brushroll bearings. If that doesn't solve the problem the brushroll may need to be replaced.

I have a Bissell pet hair eraser model #3920. It's been working great until last night. I went to use it and the brush won't spin. It also smells like it's burning. I checked the belt and it looks fine,...

- Remove the access panel, which is on the bottom of the machine. There are 4 tabs to lift on the access panel to remove. Start with tab 1 then 2-4 tabs.
- Check the brush, and belt for any damage. Clean off any debris on the brush.
-The belt may not be broken but may show signs of wear. If belt is broken or shows signs of wear, replace belt.

The brushes on my kirby are not spinning. What could i do to fix this?

Sounds like a broken belt. Take it to service store or buy a belt and replace it yourself. It's actually more simple than you think. Good luck! Did you get a funny burning smell when the brushes stopped spinning?

The brushes aren't spinning

The brushes are belt drive by a belt. The belt is probably broken. You can purchase a new belt at a local discount store and replace it. You won't find anything that looks like a pulley, it'll just be a bare round metal portion of the brush assembly that is located at one end. The motor end will look similar.

My Rainbow SE vacuum was working fine until I ran over the edge of a rug and it went in to the nozzle. I immediately switched the vacuum off and proceeded to move the rug. When I tried to turn the Rainbow...

hello lilbutmunch1,
The brush is motor/belt driven so you probably either broke the belt or it shifted off the motor or brush shaft. I suggest you unplug it,flip it over and look for screws that hold the baseplate together.. remove those screws and seperate the baseplate to gain access to the brush and motor head. Once open, it should be fairly obvious what the problem is.. a broken belt, a belt that has shifted or the brush won't spin freely due to an obstruction. Hope this helps..

Bissell carpet cleaner brushes won't turn

Make sure you have released the handle, as if you wanted to push the machine forward. If the handle is locked upright, the brushes do not spin.

If they still don't spin, you may have a broken belt. Look carefully at the base, on each side. As I face the front of mine, on the right side of the machine, a small belt goes around one brush and a small cog wheel. On the left side, a larger belt goes around both brushes. If either belt is broken, the brushes will not spin. This can happen if you let gunk build up inside the clear plastic side pieces or around or above the brushes. It's very important to constantly be cleaning your Bissell. The belts can be ordered online and replaced. See your owner's manual.
