Do you have your S.A.M.E set for "Single"? If you don't, set the setting for "Single" and punch in the S.A.M.E code for your county. If you've already done that, then the problem may be that you live in a county that has one S.A.M.E code and two frequency channels. What you need to do is try both frequency channels for your county (you can find this information at www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm) and whichever one gives you the best reception, listen to that channel. Now keep in mind, the NWS have certain criterias for issuing a severe thunderstorm warning. To find out more info, go to http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lsx/?n=nwrfaq and look at FAQ #10.
