My sub zero 561/F has what I think is a noisy compressor. I would like to know how to get to the compressor and clean/lubricate. I believe the noise is coming from the top grill area. Don't know how to open the grill?

The grill has two and maybe three screws onthe under edge of it remove and lift up and tilt out / there is a spring holding it in place / remove and lif off .. do clean the condenser coil ( unplug or turn off power befre doing this ) vacuum the compressor area. you cannot lube the compressor as they are sealed .. the fan motor is generally the noisey . replace if so ./ clean both sides of cond and fan blades .. mm

Hi,

It may be leaking but I think more likely is that you have a problem with the defrost system and it is not defrosting properly... that can give the same symptoms as a low charge or leak condition...

pop the top panel and clean your condenser,this is the most common problem,other than that it could be your compressor or refrigerant leak.this model i believe is two separate systems so one will not effect the other/. good luck!

My sub-zero 695 motor keeps running, very noisy..

If it is one with the compressor on top . Check the coils up top . You may find that they need cleaning because it sound like it's unable to cool enough to satisfy the thermostat therefore it runs all the time trying to.

I had the same problem with my sub zero. I took off the grill on the top and vacuumed the coil that has the fan in front of it. The problem has not happened since. I'ts worth a try.

more likely a bad compressor, which is more sensitive to temperature extremes...may be cheaper to replace the frig.
