It sounds like a bad door gasket. Check it carefully. Try placing a piece of typing paper in the door, close it and see if it stays, if not replace the gasket.
Good luck,

ICE BUILDS UP IN LIEBHERR FREEZER

Needs a new defrost timer. If ice builds up then you are not defrosting. If you are not defrosting then the t-stat will read the ice and think it is down to temp and shut off.

We have a frigidaire upright (ffu17m7hwd) which formed a lot of ice and we are in the midst of defrosting and don't want to experience this again. Can you assist please? Had to throw food out due to...

Freezer burn to food is caused by air & moisture in contact with it.
There should be a tight seal by the rubber gasket along all the inside edges of the freezer door. This gasket prevents unwanted hot moisture and hot air from entering the freezer compartment and causing ice build up. You can test the integrity of the rubber gasket seal by seeing how the freezer door will pinch a slip of paper in various spots around the freezer door. If the slip of paper pulls out easily, there is not a good seal at that spot. If that's the case (which I believe it is), the door gasket needs to be replaced. By the way, ice will build up over time because you need to access the food in the freezer, hence you will introduce moist air each time you open the freezer door.

My freezer started getting a lot of frost and ice around the top close to the henges. Now I am getting a lot of ice in the bottom of this freezer. I can break up the ice and remove it and it will be back...

there are only 2 reasons this happens but one cause (defrost element not working) 1st we check the defrost timer is working if not replace it if it is working go on to the last fault it can be - depending on the freezer it will have 1 or 2 defrost elements when one blows the ice will slowly build up if they both blow then the ice will build up within days unless you know your way around a multimeter it will be very hard to determin witch unit has blown in 70% of cases its the element but a service tech can tell you in a matter of minutes to save you time and money i would get a quote to get a tech in but now you know what to look for

best of luck to you
please remember to rate this repair .thank you

Freezer model EV171NYMS04 we have ice build up on

There is a drain the back of the freezer that is frozen. Your trickle of water comes from the ice that melts off of the refrigeration coils during the defrost cycle. You need to turn off the freezer, then remove the rear cover from the back wall to expose the coils. With a hair dryer, melt all of the ice. You will find a drain under the coils. Melts all of the ice in this drain so water can get out of the freezer. When this drain is clear, you can put everything back together, and your freezer should work normally.

Ice crystals forming on inside front freezer panel

Very possible the door seal is not properly sealed. Warm inflowing air onto a cold coil will cause ice build up at the lid.
