TECHNICS CD CHANGER(SL-EH600) CASSETTE DECK(RS-EH600) SOUND PROCESSER(SH-EH600) TUNER/AMPLIFIER(SA-EH600) .
WE HAVE TRIED TO CONNECT A TURNTABLE TO THIS SYSTEM BUT HAVE NO SOUND, WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO CONNECT IT WITH SOUND?.
Hi,
Most if not all turntables would need to be connected to a PHONO INput which is high impedance with a high gain pre-amplifier stage. It will not work when connected to an AUX, CD or any line level inputs. Alternately, if your amp does not have any Phono Inputs, you can feed the turntable output to a preamp which can then be connected to any any line level inputs. An example may be found here or here. Additionally, there are some turntables with a built-in preamp.
Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Hi droopydraws
I don't know this specific system, but the connections are much the same on most set ups.
Turntable sockets on most amplifiers are referred to as "phono." So the first thing to do, is look on the back of the tuner/amplifier for a pair of sockets that are marked "Phono - L" and "Phono - R." The L and R are for left and right. Connect your turntable should be connected to these sockets. Your tuner/amplifier should have a button or setting to select "Phono" and you should then hear sound from your turntable. If it doesn't work there are two possibilities.
1) The phono input on the back of your tuner/amplifier might be faulty. You can check this very easily by temporarily plugging your CD player or Cassette Deck into the phono input sockets then selecting phono as if you were using the turntable. If there is still no sound, there may be a problem with the switching circuit. If there is sound, the problem will be associated with your turntable. Please note, anything plugged into the phono input will sound tinny, except the turntable because the frequency response is set for optimum sound quality when used with a turntable and not with other sound sources.
2) If you suspect the turntable, carefully remove the headshell and look at the small connections to the stylus, ensure they are firmly pushed onto the pins.
Hope this helps. Regards
