Xerox Phaser 6360 Laser Printer Logo
Posted on Dec 02, 2009

I have a problem with ghosting on a Xerox Phaser 6360. Have replaced the Transfer Roller, Imaging Unit, and Fuser. It looks like the problem is mainly in Magenta. This is not a repeating defect, but a ghost image. Thanks.

I have the same problem with whatever color that used most. The Xerox sent its people over to fix it. However, the problem gets after a few days. Probably, it cannot handle large volume.

Are you sure it is not a NVRAM error you are recieving?

If yes, remove the IMAGING UNIT.
Close the door and Power On.
Msg gone? If yes, replace IMAGING UNIT.

If no, remove the FUSER unit.
Close the door and Power On,

If not, it is the ENGINE BOARD.

Xerox phaser 6360 imaging unit stuck

The lid lifts a lever on the right side of the printer that moves a set of gears that releases the imaging unit. If the lever is broken or disconnected, it will not release. You may have to remove the right side panel to resolve it. You have to release the top, by removing 4 screws, and then the panel will release.

The black print jobs have a shadow about 3 inches down the page

I had replaced the fuser - no improvement. I removed the fuser, imaging unit & transfer roller. CAREFULLY using a vacuum cleaner I cleaned all units and the internals of the printer, rotating the roller on the imaging unit to clean all parts. (Warning Place Imaging unit on paper as toner escapes) After a few test prints the page cleared and duplicate ghosting cleared.

Xerox phaser 6360 is ghosting. replaced transfer roller but no help thanks Bruce

Most common cause of this is the use of 3rd party toner. This isnt true for all printers but some of the newer Xerox are notorious for it as the 3rd party toners are not produced to the exact specs as xerox. If your not using genuin Xerox toner you have your cause.
If your mechanicaly savy you can completely dissasemble most of the printer in order to clean out the toner. Then start over with new Xerox toner cartridges. I have had to service 2 of these printers in this way, and both were like new when done.

Xerox Phaser 6360N ghosting images on each page

Is it a ghost of the image or just a repeating defect? In the menu, there is a repeating defect information page that you can print out. Depending on the spacing of the defect, you can determine which component it is.

Xerox Phaser 6250 started printing bad

That really sounds like the imaging unit cleaner has an issue.
If you have one try the imaging unit, I really suspect that is your problem.
Black is Faded or Missing Step 1 Clean the Laser Windows and Remove Excess Toner From the Imaging Unit Step 2 Check or Replace the Imaging Unit Gear Retaining Pin Step 3 Replace the Imaging Unit (installation instructions) ic-film.gif
See if this link works. Xerox is infameous for these not working.

Xerox Phaser 6250

How Brave is Jan?

Doubt it be the fuser(100 000life), "just magenta dots".... fuser would be "all smudged" or "black marks" , "the print rubs off" , "paper is creasing or jamming"

Can prove it by stopping a print (open door) when paper is1/2 way threw machine, you need to stop it before it goes threw the hot bit, so you can tell if the hot bit (fuser) puts the marks on the paper.

Transfer roller one would expect to effect whole print Smudged/Faint,uneven density

It will be the imaging unit ( 30 000 pagelife Ouch$ ) or possible leaking toner (if aftermarket)

Remove imaging unit and inspect film you should find image of lines, dots are usually chips or sticky stuff on drum surface, carefull no oily human fingers on surface please.

When stopping machine mid print and perfecting your timing, pull out the imaging unit and look at replica of your print notice if marked and where.

Hope this helps
