First turn off water then remove the wall board ,or paneling at least 12 in above tub lip .,Remove more if you can.The more room you have the easer it is to slide the new tub into place. Now you should be able to reach the tubs drains unsrcew or cut them out When you have the drains disconnected .pull any nails or screws from around the tub. Look at the path you have to take to get the tub out ,you'll probably have to remove the toilet tubspout or maybe even the lavitory.when your path is clear put a flat bar between a stud and the inside edge of the tub pry the tub up and out. You way have to move from one stud to another. When its off the wall on the inside edge see if you can pick the back end of the tub up.This should make it easier.Remove all the bad flooring .You will need some lumber now replace the floor joist or scab onto them (you will need 3 or 4 ft of good joist on eather end to scab onto.If the edges of the new floor board dont land on a floor joist simply nail aboard onto the side of the joist it needs to meet on level with the other joist.Where the front of the tub sits cut a hole out about 10x12 in center of hole14and1/2in for standard tub and off the wall in front of the tub 12 in.This will give you room for the tub shoe(thats the part the tub basket screws into) Sit tub on flat level surface and measure from the ground up to the inside edge of tub .Nail a 2x4 on the inside wall about 4 ft long off the floor as high as the edge of the tub.Take your time and get this right if you dont you will have to pull the tub back up after you've set it in place..If you have room you can put the waste and over flow on the tub follow the instructions on the package use pipe compound on threds and plumbers putty on the basket lip.If your not going to be able glue the trap after the tub is inSet the center of drain 14 1/2 in off inside wall and 1 1/2 off front wall .put tub into place front in first drop down the back and slide tub ont the board you nailed up earlier level it up dont add pitch the tub has pitch built into it takes screws or roofing nail securing tub to studs hook up the drain P.S.dont nail or screw through the tub instead nail or screw just above the top liof the lip fill the tub completly up .plug up the over flow When water gets to edge of tub lip look fore leaks then release stopper and finish looking for leaks . YOU HAVE A LOT TO DO! Good Luck!!

I live in a single wide mobile home the wood under the tub is rotted how can I replace it or reinforce it I tried stabilizing it from underneath which was nearly impossible but all the wood under the...

To fix most any problem with a mobile home just build a bonfire in the hallway outside of the bathroom with newspapers, cardboard, and old clothing and go out for the evening. If you decide to forego the arson route, the tub enclosure cannot be removed intact so you will have to cut it up with a reciprocating saw to get at the sub-flooring. I recommend marine grade plywood for the replacement sub-floor. The replacement tub and enclosure come in separate pieces instead of the molded one piece unit you probably have, and installation is fairly straightforward. Reconnect supply and drain lines and check for leaks before closing everything up.

The wood is rotting on my RV travel trailer fold out bed, need to know how to replace it

First find water leak that’s making it rot! Next, fold out and drill rivets or remove screws and hardware then remove plywood or particle board and replace with fresh plywood from Lowe’s that’s same thickness so bed will close and stow properly

Floor sags slightly with wt. of a person. Is there something that can be inserted under the tub floor?

You likely have dry rot, caused by a leak. Very best thing to do is have a competent contractor look underneath and confirm what really needs to be done. You may need to replace floor joists, fix the shower pan, etc.

Leaking with no visible crack-- caused my ceiling to rot out below

Check your seal between the bowl and the floor.
Sounds like the wax seal used on the underneath of the bowl is faulty and needs replacement.
If the seal is faulty it will cause a leak that you described.
Be sure to remove all the old wax seal on the floor and the bowl before installing a new wax seal.

We have a 2006 Rockwood 5th wheel and the floor in front of the sink is becoming soft and don't know what to do.

The softness in the floor is probably due to water damage and rot. Because this is happening at the sink, the most likely cause is a leak in the drain piping. The trailer is not very old and I don't think that the source is from outside. It is still something to consider, after doing a good investigation of the sink piping. In order to fix your problem thoroughly you will need to find and fix the source of the water, as well as making repairs to the soft flooring.

Most flooring in 5th wheels like yours is a plywood base with an overlay of another flooring material. If you have carpet or vinyl over the plywood it will need to be pulled up to assess the damage. Depending on the extent of the damage, you may want to look into getting a professional to do the work. Your own experience, and how much time or money you have to put into the project, should guide you on whether or not you want to do it yourself.

You may want to go ahead and pull up the flooring, even if you are expecting to hire somone to do the work. This will give you an idea of how much work needs to be done. When you have removed as much of the covering as you think you need to, check the plywood for discoloration and softness. There may be rings of discoloration that will give you clues as to the source. These would be much like growth rings on a tree that get bigger as they go out from the source.

The softness of the wood (often called punkiness) will help you determine how much of the wood you will need to replace. Some of the discolored wood may be able to be saved. You should replace all of the soft wood and any wood that is starting to get soft. Cut out some of the worst to get access to the underside for inspection with your hand and an inspection mirror if you have one. At this point you should have a good idea of how much work it will be to put the floor back together after you cut out the bad pieces. You will probably need to cut out some good wood with the bad to get sections out that are easy to replace.

I recommend taking a lot of pictures as you tear stuff out to help in the restoration. The flooring is usually installed before the interior. This may make the repair much more difficult if the bad flooring extends under walls and cabinetry. A lot of careful deconstruction may be necessary to get to flooring under these things. Pictures will help you to put things back the way they were.

While you are taking everything apart, you should be looking for the source of the leak. You will probably need to turn on the water and let it drain for a bit. Keep an eye out near the area of most damage. This may be at the source or just a low spot that collected water. Either way it may give a clue to the location of the leak. Inspect the area under the flooring for damage to the framing and anything else that may be susceptible to water damage as well.

When you have determined how much of the flooring to replace be sure to choose the right material to reinstall. Your trailer probably has an enclosed undercarriage. You can probably use standard plywood for the repair. I recommend getting a marine grade plywood, though. This is a bit more expensive, but if there are any further leaks, it will stand up to the water much better. Be sure to get the correct plywood thickness, too. Measure a good piece of the original to be sure. You should also use new fasteners that match the original installed. Use stainless fasteners (also a little more costly, but best for the same reason as the marine plywood). Any good hardware store can find you matching fasteners.

When you are planning how you will replace the flooring take a lot of measurements and make drawings to help. Use what the original flooring looks like to plan the new sections. The framing under the floor should guide the sizes and shapes of the new pieces. If you can't make joints line up with the framing you should add a support under the joint that is attached to the framing. Plywood comes in 4 by 8 foot sheets, so your sections have to be smaller than that. Remeber that the flooring will need to support the weight of someone walking on it (and probably jumping on it if you have kids).

Once you have the repair planned out, cut up your parts and install them. This will be the easy part. The hard part is going to be putting the rest of the trailer back together as it was. If you paid attention to how all the pieces came out, and took pictures, it will be much easier.

Water is leaking out from the bottom of my Maytag top load washer Model A612, my floor is soaked! do I need a new washer or should I unplug it, tip it over & see what's wrong? thanks for yor help.

remove two screws from the front panel, tilt out and remove or there may be two clips under the front panel near the sides that need be depressed with a putty knife. Run a load and see where the water is coming from . The clamps that hold the hoses on the pump and tub rot off quite often.

Can bottom of bathtub collapse

The answer is yes. Most of your moble homes have poly or fiberglass tubs with litttle or no bracing under them and the floors are made out of a fiber type board. When they get wet they warp, crumble and fall apart, so if water has gotten under the tub there isn't much of a floor under it. But yes it can be repaired. She will have to remove the old tub and the wall board around it And probably have that portion of floor replaced.

sounds like your "bias spring" has broken or fell off. This is located at about the 7:00 position under the top and attaches the tub to the drum supports and keeps the tub aligned. It is possible that you have a bad tub support as well, but less likely.
