Aerus electrolux CB 2000

I have an old Aerus CB2000 but I need to replace the filter with the metal ring. I am having trouble finding one or even the size of the metal ring so that I can have one made. The old one accidently got thrown away.
Thank you, Jamie

I e-mailed Aerus about my old Model CB unit, (around 40 years old, looks like a chrome and red shop vac) and, unfortunately, they no longer make parts for it and I decided to retrofit my old Shop Vac 5-8 Gallon bags to it and they seem to work. However, probably better to find a ring and gasket from a vacuum place that was known to sell them or ask the nearest vac stores, like the other fellow said to get some information. The old canvas filters I would think were more or less motor protection barriers just in case something gets sucked into the intake. By the way, I have seen the occasional CB units on eBay and other sites, and, the 2000 looks a bit like mine only in modern plastic as opposed to metal (apparently different colours).

There are a number of Aerus Electrolux stores, maybe in you phone book you can find one. You can go to their website at www.aerusonline.com, or find a repair shop that can order the part for you.

Electrolux Epic series 3500 model Upright Vacuum cleaner motor(replace old one)?

I don't know what your question is, but replacing a motor for Electrolux, now Aerus, should be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech. The uprights are especially tricky to take apart and reassemble correctly. The address and phone number of the Aerus store/service center nearest you can be found at the site below.

Aerus Electrolux: Don't Void Your Warranty

Aerus Electrolux Warranty
Aerus carries a great warranty on their machines, up to 20 years limited on top of the line models. However, there are some things that WILL void the warranty. The following are probably the most common.

Use of generic/made-to-fit bags. There’s a reason genuine bags are strongly advised for use with the Aerus and previous Electrolux vacuums, and it’s not just the strength of the bag. Fine dust particles will get through generic bags and result in a damaged motor.

Vacuuming wet carpet and liquids. Although you may try to make sure you don’t use your vacuum on liquids, children, other family members, and/or house cleaners won’t necessarily be as careful/caring. If kids notice the vacuum doesn’t work anymore, they may try to hide the evidence, thus you may not know about the problem.
Keep in mind that if you have your carpet steam cleaned, it can take a week or more to thoroughly dry. Vacuuming during this time will result in water/mud getting into the motor, ruining it almost immediately. A wet bag will also usually break open, sending contents through the motor. The motor will have to be replaced, but it won’t be covered by a warranty.

Dismantling of vacuum by unauthorized persons. If you’re having a problem with your vacuum, and you think it’s an easy, quick fix, don’t. You may get it fixed, but this will void the warranty for future problems. It’s simply not worth it.

Commercial use. The Aerus commercial upright is made for tougher work, but only carries a one year limited warranty. Even though your machine may have a longer, better warranty when used properly, using it as part of a cleaning or similar business voids the warranty. Solution; Don’t do it.

Aerus Electrolux does NOT warranty machines sold over the internet, such as on E-bay. Only those purchased through an authorized franchise or representative carry Aerus' warranty.

Be aware of your machines’ capabilities and warranties. An Aerus Electrolux owner has made a wise investment in a top-of-the-line home cleaning system and generally desires to maintain the system in prime working condition, with full benefits.

Contact Aerus for additional information. You can find a local shop/consultant through their home page: http://aerushome.com/

Need diagram to replace cord thank you

I'm sorry, but diagrams for these machines are only available to the owners and service techs at Aerus Electrolux stores. No hard copy, and nothing on the net.
I don't recommend doing it yourself anyway, for the following reasons.
1. risk of breaking tabs.
2. unable to reassemble correctly

I strongly recommend taking it to your nearest Aerus Electrolux store.

No suction; beater bar works. Motor does not seem to be running.

This model has a complicated trouble-shooting procedure that needs to be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech.
This is often caused by a bad relay board or a Triac. However, problems in wiring or swswiches, including the hose wiring.
I stress that this must be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech.

How do I open the canister of the Aerus Electrolux Lux Guardian? I need to replace the retractable cord mechanism. Aerus won't help me.

Hi there,

This will not be difficult to open, however, inside may scare you.

Remove your hepa filter cartridge (if you have one)
turn the machine over.
Undo the 6-8 screws there and pull the bottom off.
you should see everything there. If you are careful, just remove the old rewinder, and replace with the new one.

Good luck.

How do I gain access to the motor of an Electrolux 2000 canister vacuum. The air intake on the motor must be partially blocked as there is a loss of suction and the motor makes that high pitched whine like...

Dismantling the vacuum probably won't help much, and reassembling can be a bear.
To check the intake, remove bag and look into bottom of bag well. It there's a filter there, remove it and check intake at bottom of bag well. Clear if there is.
The afterfilter on a canister is located beneath the air diffuser grid on the top of the machine where the tools can be attached. Remove this cover and there should be a white filter. Yours is probably black, or at least real dirty, if it's never been changed. This also blocks the airflow, reducing suction, and potentially damaging the motor. Extremely dirty filters are an indicator of how much dust is getting into and through the motor. This is usually caused by using generic bags rather than the genuine Electrolux, now Aerus, bags.
It is also an indicator of another internal problem on some other Aerus and pre-Aerus Electrolux vacuums.

Electrolux 2100

Call your local Aerus Electrolux office. If there is a problem in the electrical system you should get that checked before you continue with the machine. As for the cord replacement- Any Aerus service dept. can do that for you. I say an Aerus office because should you let a non-Electrolux employee work on it you will void your warranty.
