If your pictures are on the SD card in your camera, many of the sd cards have a small micro switch on one edge that will lock your card... you may want to pull it out of the camera and make sure that the physical lock isn't set..

To prevent data leakage on mobile, I would recommend an app called LEO Privacy. It offers free privacy shield app that enhances the security of your personal information. In fact, it can use applock to lock your secrets and it can hide your personal images and videos. In addition, it helps us stop spam phone calls and track the phone we lost. It's a trust one we can download.

The photos on the playback mode are locked and cannot be deleted. how to do I take them off the lock mode to delete?

Hi there, This is because your memory card might be locked. Turn of the camera and take out the memory card and adjust the small tab up located at the upper left side of the memory card. Then put it back, power on the camera and try again. Let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FixYa.

I put my memory card in my card reader and connect it in a computer to delete the pictures in it but everytime I attempt to delete it, it says cannot delete PICT0005, the disk is write protected. Remove...

Hi due to so many questions asked about this here it is. How to deal with memory card locked/write protected error.

kilgourt.gif

SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.

There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.

For non-SD cards: Format the card

The data on the memory card may be corrupted.

WARNING: Formatting will delete all the files in the device. Backup all your data before formatting.

Canon PowerShot SX20 IS Digital Camera keeps giving me a memory card error. The memory card is a 4gig PNY memory card (lower budget)

Make sure the slide switch on the side of the card is unlocked. Your camera may just want you to format the card in the camera. Download any pics from it first using a card reader if necessary.

The card, or memory chip in camera is locked, and i dont know how to unlock it, so now i cant take pictures, or upload my pictures, or even delete photos,i just need to know how to unlock my camera.

Hi,
This used to happen when the write protect lock on in the memory card. Refer the manual to see how to remove the memory card.
After removing the memory card, unlock the write protect tab as shown in the fig. d7656e6.jpg

Locked cam

If the pictures are protected, see page 43 of this manual.

If the memory card is protected, look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

First check the memory card to see if the lock tab is in the UNLOCK position. On the top left of the memory card is a slide the moves up and down. The slide should be in the up position for it to be unlocked. A locked memory card could cause the camera to read a CARD PROTECT error message.
If you still receive an error message, verify that you are inserting the card correctly so that the spring locks in as you fully insert it. When performed correctly an Icon will appear in the lower right hand corner of the LCD screen. Also try inserting the card while the camera is on.
The memory card may also need to be formatted through the camera’s settings-- Note: Formatting will delete all files, so be sure to transfer any important files to your computer before doing so
To Format: Insert the memory card into the camera and press the mode button to get to the mode screen. Enter into Tools/SETTINGS and find FORMAT. Once you select format you will receive a YES or NO option. Select YES and you will see a FORMATTING message. Once the formatting is complete, see if the camera reads the card and functions properly

Memory card is write protected

thought the cards have a little tab on them so they can be "write protected" it is a little plastic tab on the side of the memory1.gif card you slide up and down. I know most SD cards1.gif have it, CF cards dont so if its anything besides SD memory its probobly the memory card or some little switch or somthing in the camera that tells the camera when the card is in the "Locked" or "Write protected" mode.

Looking at my SD memory cards1.gif they have a little arrow on the edge and they say "Lock" pointing down, the slider is up. Move yours both ways, maybe it has a bad connection in the card (im not sure what it actualy does) or its in a position the camera thinks its locked?

Memory card locked!??

The card locked usually means 'protected' Check out the manual for image protection - on/off. Or put card back into computer and delete[NOT FORMAT] from there. A more comprehensive manual is usually found the the CD that came with the camera
