Tip & How-To about Televison & Video

Mitusbishi shuts off instantly...

Most of the Mitsubishi rear projection sets made from about 2000 through 2006 have a self diagnostic check feature. It will indicate if there is a error or not and point you in the direction of your trouble.

Based on the error code I or others can tell you more based on the error code and the EXACT model number of the set.

Here is what you do if it turns on for a few seconds and then the power light goes off.

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “Menu and Input"(or device) buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

If someone has one of these codes and needs help let me know.

What does a blinking orange light on 65" Mitsubishi dlp rear projection TV mean?

Self Diagnostics

The V18 Chassis features Self Diagnostics to aid in troubleshooting problems that may cause the set to

automatically turn off or "shut down." The "Timer/Power ON LED" provides an indication of the sets operation,

and the possible cause of a malfunction.

1. Initial Control Circuitry Check

Immediately after the TV is connected to an AC power source:

• The LED flashes three times ... indicating the Microprocessor has initialized and is functioning

properly.

• If the LED does not flash ... the Microprocessor is NOT functioning.

2. Error Code Operational Check

To activate the Error Code Mode, while the set is OFF, press the front panel "INPUT" and "MENU" buttons

at the same time and hold for 5 seconds. The LED will flash denoting a two digit Error Code.

Note: The Front Panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: For Error Code is "24", the LED will flash 2 times, pause, and then flash 4 times.

3. Error Codes

The Error Code designations indicating a malfunction, or no malfunction, are listed below:

"12" ... indicates no error has occurred.

"21" ... X-Ray Protect circuit.

"22" ... Short Protect circuit.

"23" ... Horizontal Deflection failure.

"24" ... Vertical Deflection failure.

turn on mitsubishi VS 55609

Set will turn on either with remote or front power button---if when turned on power light goes off after a few seconds set is in shutdown---set may have the self check feature--let me know with a comment if you want that info--I have already given you a link to the owner manual.

powers on for three seconds then goes off

The first thing to do is to try to determine why the set is not turning on. It is equipped with a self diagnostic feature. On the front of the set push the MENU and DEVICE button at the same time and hold until the LED starts flashing a two sequence code. That will narrow things down for us.
