Partial Power Outage

Hello. We recently purchased a 53 y/o home. The lights started flickering and going off yesterday in 1/2 of our home, including 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, the hallway lights, the heater, and the oven. For some odd reason, starting the oven seems to then provide power for the lights in that 1/2 of the house to turn on, even if all we do is flick the oven power on and off for a second. However, the lights may last only seconds, or persist for hours. Any ideas what's going on and what we can do to fix this?

    have the same problem, first one room lost power a week ago then fixed itself.
    then the opposite room lost power, then the both lost power but only to the wall outlets. All of the breakers read good , meaning that i have pwr. from the neutral to both in and out of the breaker.
    whats weird is that i can get 119vac from each side of the outlet to ground (the third ground hole.of the outlet).
    i tightened all of the neutral connection screws in the control panel where the breakers.

This could be very dangerous.

I would first call your electric company and ask if they have any problems with their lines, etc. We recently had this problem at our home and it was in their circuits.

My mother in law had a similar problem and we caught it in time. In her house, several outlets showed extremely low voltage and the others showed extremely high voltage.

It turned out to be a bad neutral connection on the line going from the pole to the house. The electric company fixed it at no charge.

Also, you or someone you know should measure the voltages coming out of your outlets, or call an electrician right away.

You may have a loose circuit breaker or a bad connection somewhere your electrical panel or elsewhere in your neutral line.

This can lead to destruction of your appliances or even a fire, so please don't delay.

There is no reset button for this type of problem to be properly solve.
this type of problem can be view from two angle here below
1) From the wall power supply connection
2) from the oven wires connection to the panel or unit control

What this could indicate from your explanation is that there has been a bring of wire from the power control connected to the element (heater), what you are to do to solve this problem carefully, is to carefully unscrew the oven then trace the wire from the main power supply down to the control switch (panel or unit) after you most have unplug it from power supply to see if there is any of meant wires around if you are un able to trace any loose/bad wire then couple it back to it position and trace the problem to the main power supply from the wall mean that a partial contact from the wall unscrew it with a screw driver (technician tools )fix it up and then couple it back with this the problem of continuous will be solve.

Hi, then it might be a factory fault problem, i will advise you to call in a electrician to come and witness it whenever you put it on so that he will be able to identify weather it is the microwave's fault or an electrical fault...

Light bulb going out

Unplug your unit then you have to remove the cover from the microwave. Just remove the screws that are around and in the back if there are any. once you remove the cover you should have access to your bulb. Befor removing the cover just inspect the inside of the oven to make syre that ther is no access plate in there to remove the bulb. I hope this helps. Don,t forget to rate my answer, thanks.

Microwave has no power

Is the outlet ok? Can you plug somethng else into the outlet to see if the fuse or breaker controlling the outlet is ok? If there is power at the outlet, unplug the unit and remove the outside cover.
Look for a blown fuse on the motherboard. Replace it with the EXACT value of the original fuse. You can purchase a new fuse at Radio Shack or hardware store or auto parts store. Try powering up the unit again and see if it works now or whether the fuse blows again. If it blows again, the power supply may have been damaged. Was this a power outage or surge? Was anything else in your home affected?

It sounds like your controller may be failing. Or it could be an electrical line problem. Any other electrical itmes giving you trouble? Has anyone measured the voltage level of your power line? It should be around 110-125 volts AC. If it's significantly lower or higher, you may have a bad connection in your breaker panel or in the wiring leading to the home.

Reset Microwave after a Power Outage

If its part of the house your renting, call the landlord as its most likly a control panel went bad, and in this unit, thats probably going to exceed the cost of the microwave oven. If its a rental oven, take it back.
