The door slamming open is a broken spring/springs. They are very easy to replace - remove the screws holding the dishwasher in... pull out slightly and replace with good ones on the sides.

Can you clear the error code by shutting off power to it?

Manual for sears dishwasher item MOD#1440902214409000

I am not sure if you have got the correct model number.
Sears dishwashers are usually of the following makes - Kenmore, Maytag, Kithchen Aid, Whirlpool and the model number would be something like 665.xxxxxx

Can you please change the model number and post a comment.

Dishwasher door drops hard when opened.

Sounds like one of the doors springs is broken or has come detached from the dishwasher housing frame. If you have a plain dishwasher door, ie one that does not have a wood panel matching your cabinets, and the spring(s) are broken, new springs cost about $20. If you have wood panel on the dishwasher door, then you may need heavy duty replacement spring at about $22.

The door to our Kitchen Aide dishwasher now drops down very quickly and it used to have some control when the door was opened. How difficult is it to repair?

Hi, it is likely a broken door spring, or both. Part number 9743986. You can access them by way of removing the screws in the toe panel below the main door panel. Be sure to shut off the power to the unit. With the toe panel removed you should be able to visually inspect for a broken spring, with the aid of a flashlight ot trouble-light. One hook will connect to the hinge while the other end hooks into the dishwasher frame towards the back. Hope that help's and thanks for visiting fixya. Please take a second and rate the solution provided for here today. Good luck. Macmarkus :)

Kithchen aid dishwasher model KUD101FLS spring on door broken. How do I access it?

Take the bottom panel off so you can see the side of the dishwasher at the botom.

You will have to pull the dishwasher at least half way out to replace the door spring.

Depends on the water connection, drain, and electrical.

Sometimes this can be done by just removing the screws at the top which holds the dishwasher to the counter top, adjusting the front legs all the way up and pulling it out.

Water connection
If you have a flexable water line that is long enough, if not, the water will have to be shut off and the line disconnected.

Drain
The drain hose will have to be disconnected from under the sink if there is not enough slack to pull it out half way.

Electrical
Same here, not enough slack then you have to disconnect.

Broken door spring on kitchenaid dishwasher

Hello,

Please read our safety information before attempting any testing or repairs. Before repairing the door springs, unplug the dishwasher or shut off the power at the fuse box or breaker panel to avoid an electrical shock hazard.
The door opens and closes with the aid of springs. If the springs (or the cables that connect them on some dishwashers) break, the door will drop open hard. The door will also be heavier when closing. If the door drops open, it may also bend the door hinges out of shape resulting in a door that does not close properly and possibly leaks.

When replacing the springs or cables, all of them should be replaced at the same time.
To access the door springs and cables remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to get to the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel.
There are two common types of spring assemblies. One type connects the springs from a hook on the dishwasher cabinet of to a tang on the door hinge .

Door open and closing problem

My dishwasher model DU3003XL0 has a similar problem. It happened yesterday. I had opened the door all the way, and then I heard a loud clunk sound. I suspect it is the spring mechanism in the door, and am ordering new springs, and hope to fix it myself.
Wish me luck.
