I had the same problem and although I could never get the solution I was trying to reach, I was able to use the card in both the camera and computer. The only way I could get the camera formatted card to read on the computer was to use the CoolPix software that came with the camera. Once the photos were downloaded onto the PC, I could do anything I needed. But, beware, the card has to be formatted in the camera and it can only be used on the computer using their downloading software.

Reformat the card from the camera. You didn't specify camera model but every digital camera has a menu to format media.

If you don't succeed try to connect your camera to the computer and read the photos.

If that doesn't succeed either take your camera to service.

The C913 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they will not work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Cannot get pictures from my camera

If you can view the pictures on the preview of the camera itself then the pictures are safe. It is possible the photos reside in the INTERNAL camera memory rather than on the SD card. You may have to have the camera transfer them.

It is also possible that the SD card is NOT compatible with your camera.

What I would do is to procure a seperate SD card reader (they are very inexpensive) and remove the card from the camera and read it using the external interface.

NOTE: There are high density SD cards that are usually not compatible with older cameras... they are marked HD.

My SanDisk SD memory card for my camera is not working when I put it in my computer.

Sometimes you have to format the sandisk to your computer before using it in your camera or phone in order for the computer to be able to read the disk when it's inserted.

Camera not reading SD card after being removed from my reader

Put the SD card back into the card reader. Are you files still there when the computer tries to read them?
If they are not, then it is very likely the card is corrupt. This happens when the card is removed before the computer is done reading/writing to the card.

There is also a SLIM chance the card is just bad.

Micro SD 2 GB just stopped working

The PIC or EEPROM inside these cards may not be working. I guess you best bet is to buy a new one try Kingston brand or go with another Sandisk.
