First thing on a Dead VZ7 to check is the solder connection at the yokes "DY" Connector. Then Check C411 2200uf @ 35V
Then C412 10uf @50V. Then Check IC700 Pin 20 for 0VDC any voltage other than 0VDC on that pin means Diode D980 is leaky.
Hope this helps. If you need anything further let me know.

    Some key points

    to remember when troubleshooting are:

    1) It requires 16 VDC at pin 4 of the IC951 to start

    the oscillator.

    2) Q975 provides Soft Start Protection, applying

some positive voltage to pin 1 during

    initial start up.

    4) If pin 4's voltage drops below 11.5 volts the

    oscillator shuts Off.

    5) If the voltage at pin 4 increases above 22

VDC, the internal Over Voltage Protect

    circuit shut the oscillator Off.

    6) If the voltage at pin 1 reaches 1.35 VDC, the

Over Current Protect circuit disables the

    oscillator.

    7) A clicking sound indicates the IC is probably

    defective.

    8) A chirping sound usually is caused by an

excessive load on the Power Supply.

Excessive load on the Power Supply is usually caused

by a high current component in the TV, such as the:

    . HV Output transistor

    . Horizontal Output transistor

    . Audio Output IC

    . Convergence Output ICs.

It's most probable that you have a ballast issue, it might not have enough power to keep up with the new lamp. That's why you don't get any image.

TV won't come on.

You would have to make some checks first. If completely dead, first you can check and see if fuse blown in powersupply. If not then: CHECK IC700 PIN 20 (AC-OFF) FOR 0 VOLTS DC. IF HIGH, CHECK FOR LEAKY D980 PART # 264P045040 ON THE MAIN PCB

Go to http://www.remotes.com enter in the TV model number, and order it, as there is nothing that can be done in a case like this. You could try to borrow a remote from a local store to switch the set back to the tuner section or borrow an original remote from someone.
