If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it
work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the
router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check
the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

You need to go into the admin area on the router and setup the internet connection. If your using DSL like at&t then you'll need to use a username and password using ppoe.

Please can you confirm what lights are on the front of the router? A photo would be most helpful. Also, please can you confirm the IP information as follows: Start>run>cmd Type IPCONFIG /ALL I need the IP Address, the Subnet Mask, the DNS info and the Default Gateway.
