One of my customers had the EXACT same problem. We initally thought it was the EA servers, but it turns out all he needed to do was "power cycle" all his electronics. So, try unplugging your router first. Wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Going thusly to your modem, console, and so on... Give it a shot, bro. It beats shaking your fist at your PS3!
If you have madden 07 or earlier it probably is. If you have madden 08 or any other current football games it might be down temporarily for maintenance.
I experienced the same problem. I have the ps2 slim. The problem was so bad that i had the slim for about 3 years and still could not play any ea games online. About 2 months ago i finally got it to work though, allowing me to play madden ncaa and many other sports games from ea. I also have dsl broadband just like you. I do not have a router though. I just hooked my ethernet cord straight into the back on the ps2, my computer is really close by. I would reccomend a router though.
Enough of this bs though. Now solving the problem. There was actually a firewall keeping me from connecting to ea servers. Which in turn meant no ea account and no ea play online. Go onto your computer and turn your FIREWALLS OFF. This still may not work though. I done this and an unknown firewall was still blocking it. THERE WAS A FIREWALL IN MY MODEM.
CALL UP YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PEOPLE AND TELL THEM TO TAKE THE ******* THING OFF SO U CAN ******* PLAY. I ALSO FOUND THAT LIMEWIRE WOULD NOW WORK ON MY COMPUTER AS WELL.
By doing this you will open peer to peer connections with other programs and players online.
I had the same problem where I'm logged into XBox Live and I couldn't get into the EA servers to play any EA games. This is what worked for me:
1. Hit the XBox button and Log out of XBox live. 2. Go to the Settings tab and select System Settings. 3. Choose Console Settings then Clock. 4. Choose Daylight Savings and set this to OFF and back out. 5. Log back into XBox Live and the time will be set automatically. 6. Start you EA Game and Have Fun!!!
Zilla
This may not be an issue on your side.
Try the following, if it still doesnt work read what EA told me .. LOL
First, please check to make sure that your PS2 is connected directly to your Cable or DSL modem. If you are using a router, check to make sure that the router you're using is official supported by Xbox Live.
Now if your DSL or Cable modem connects directly to your PS2 already, try power cycling the modem itself. This means unplugging the modem from the wall, waiting one or more minutes and then plugging it back in. Restart the system and try again.
If at this point it still does not work, check to make sure that the ports specific to Xbox Live are opened up on your Internet Service Provider's end. These are the ports that need to be open in both incoming and outgoing directions:
UDP Ports: 88 & 3074
TCP Port: 3074
NOW This can also occur if you are using a Gamertag that was previously linked to another EA account. Most often, this occurs when someone creates a Gamertag and links it to an EA account, but then has their Gamertag deleted. The Gamertag then becomes available for another player to use, but is still linked to the EA account in the EA system. When this happens, the server looks to verify against the old EA account and fails. The most common errors recieved are:
'An EA Server is not available at this time.'
'The EA Servers are currently unavailable.'
Although a more comprehensive solution is being looking into, you can get into the game immediately by creating a new Gamertag to link to your EA account. If the Gamertag is not already linked to an EA account, you will be able to link it and play without issue.

Now I did this and it worked for Madden and Battlefield for 1 week then it happened again.
Heres what EA told me.
Thank you for contacting EA technical support.
I am sorry to say that we are experiencing issues with the BF2:MC servers at this time. Connectivity and clan features are there but you may experience sporadic availability to getting into games. As for filing incidents, "unresolved," means exactly that. This incident was not solved. This is no means of brushing a problem aside. I apologize if there is a misunderstanding. We plan to have these issues resolved as soon as possible.
Sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused for the time being, and thank you for your patience!
Please respond back if you have anymore technical issues concerning this matter.
