There are a lot of products that can boost a signal, but in all likey it is not that the router is not powerfull enough to reach the other room, but that there are water pipes between the two locations or large quantities of metal which shield the other room from a wireless signal. I would attempt moving the router closer to a window or door and see if you can bounce the signal around the obstruction.
If not, you can do a search for signal booster online. there are products which use the ground in your house, home built solutions, and you can always get a second router and use it as a wireless repeater.
The topic states you have a G router so a g or b will connect. make sure the laptop is not higher then that eg: an n wireless adapter.
