I have a Compaq Presario CQ60....Just recently, the battery level got so low it powered off. Now, when I plug in the charger, it does not charge the battery....or could the batter be dead? No lights come on at all.
Try turning on the PC itself without a charger. If that doesn't turn it on then try holding down the power button for about 3 seconds, it sometimes does that. If all else fails, most likely the battery is dead. (unless you have a brand new compaq)
Take the battery out and just hook up the charger to the laptop and see if it turns on. If it does then your charger is good and the battery is bad.
If you hook up the ac adaptor only and it doesn't turn on the laptop then that means either the motherboard or the ac adapter is bad.
See if the AC Adapter has a green light on it, if it does see if it comes on when you plug it into the outlet, if it turns on then the ac adapter is good and the motherboard is bad.
