Cut tv ( kdf e60a20 sony ) on and comes on fine but goes off after approx. 5 seconds. powered down unpluged dusted inside still does same thing. is this a sign to replace lamp?

My Sony KDF-E60A20 tv is not working this morning my lamp indicator was flashing is this a problem i can fix myself or is a service technician needed?

you can fix by replaced your tv lamp only.mostly lamp number menstion on top side. if not found then tell service center only model number of your tv and get your Lamp. Lamp replacement way menstion in Lamp user manual.

While tv is on, at times screen just blacks out ...then comes on again.....audio remains but picture fades in and out....often

Replace lamp in tv because symptom shows lamp is near to end of its working hours life and causing that problem.
If lamp has not been replaced in tv in last 2-3 years, its time to replace it to solve the issue.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.

While watching the TV the screen goes blank. The LCD light is still good.

If lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years, get it replaced now because existing lamp is dying and causing problem.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual of your Sony KDF-E60A20 tv.

My Sony KDF-E60A20 will turnoff (Picture & Sound) for about 25 seconds and then turn back on again. This will go on for a while. It may run for a long time then goes through this cycle again

It is clear symptoms that tv needs new lamp as old lamp has reached at end of its life.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and would be written in user manual, please buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv.

is the led blinking anything? When was the last time you replaced the lamp? A bad lamp can cause this kind of problem.

Where is the lamp on Sony LCD Model No. KDF-E60A20 located in back of TV

There are two thumb screws at lower corners of TV, lose them and take off lower front panel of TV, there you will see lamp cover, unscrew and remove it, lamp is in front of you.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual, click Sony Support to download user manual copy of KDF-E60A20 if required.

KDF-E60A20. Picture and sound go off for a few seconds, repeats

It was as simple as replacing the lamp. It took just minutes and the TV works like new. I had to adjust he picture for the increased brightness level.

Changing lamp

Lamp replacement is not difficult in Sony KDF-E60A20 TV and procedure is written in user manual.
Unscrew two thumb screws at lower corner at back of TV and take off lower front panel, in approx center of lower front of TV, lamp cover is located, unscrew it, remove it and lamp is there, unscrew lamp with hex key (supplied in new lamp box) and take out old lamp, put new lamp and put things back in reverse order.
Click Sony Support if you want to download user manual copy of TV.

If you have not replaced TV Lamp yet then change it.
Lamp is available in Part Store and lamp procedure is written in User Manual.

Follow this procedure to replace the lamp:

1. Turn off the power on the main unit. Wait several minutes, then unplug
the power cord.
(The cooling fan will continue to operate for about two minutes after
turning the power off.)

2. Wait at least 30 minutes after unplugging the power cord to allow the
lamp to cool down before replacing it. To avoid being burned, do not
touch the lamp receptacle once the lamp has been removed.

3. Take the new lamp out of the box.
Do not touch the glass portion of the new lamp.

✍ Do not shake the lamp. Vibration can damage the lamp or shorten
its life.
✍ Avoid touching the front glass of a new lamp or the glass of the
lamp receptacle. This may reduce picture quality or lamp life.

4. Loosen the screws on the rear side panel.

5. Remove the front panel.

6. Pull out the lamp.

Unscrew the lamp and pull out the lamp horizontally.

✍ The lamp is very hot immediately after use. Never touch the glass
portion of the lamp or the surrounding parts.
✍ After it has cooled, place the used lamp into the empty box of the
replacement lamp. Never put the used lamp into a plastic bag.

7.Mount the new lamp securely. Failure to mount correctly may cause a
fire or the screen to go dark.

Push the cover back on. Make sure that the hole on the cover aligns with
the hole on the unit. Reattach the lamp cover by tightening the screw.

✍ If the lamp cover screw is inserted incorrectly, the lamp may not
operate properly. In such a case, remove the screw, insert it

✍ If the lamp cover is not reattached securely, the self-diagnostic
function may be triggered and the POWER indicator flashes three
times

8. Reattach the front panel securely.

9. Tightly screw the side panel in its place.

How do i fix the following issue? I can't tell how else it would fit!
