I opened the door during a cycle, now I can't close the door. The cycle still runs with door open. However I can cancel the cycle The display is not fuctioning either, now. I have a Bosch SHX36L Any ideas? I
I had the exact same problem, which I solved with the same solution suggested by tbdkmh. The latch had flipped shut while the door was open and just needed to be reset. I had to disassemble my door too, but I keep thinking that there has to be an easier way, once you know what needs to be done.
I broke down and called a repair man. He seem to think the problems was related to the unit being off level. My house is 105 years old, it's pier and beam on clay. It's like a house boat on the water. The house is constantly doing the wave. It's tuff to live with.... So now, this is another object I've got to keep my eye on and keep level. Hope this helps someone out there...
I'm not familiar with your model but I have a SHY66C and did the same thing. I had to open the door and remove the screws around the perimeter and take off the door skin. I then removed the screws holding the top plastic cover and took it off. You can then pry out on the metal tabs holding the hard plastic door latch and pull down on it to remove. There is a spring loaded leg on the outside that will be pointing toward you if it were in the installed postion and you are facing the door. Push in hard on the middle part of this leg until it clicks and resets the latch. Of course then just reinstall the door in reverse order. Remember that you have to put the plastic cover back on the top before putting the door skin back on.
